Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my 1960 Imperial LeBaron hardtop with rear AC. It’s a rare car, with only 999 hardtops being made in 1960. It’s factory color is “Midnight Blue”. I have owned this car for 4 years, and I have the Illinois title in my name. I also have the keys. (The gold crown trunk key, and an Imperial World's Fair Ignition and door key. I personally have never seen one of these World's Fair keys before. And It says Imperial on it too.) My intention was to restore this car, but I never got around to it. I’m hoping someone else will be able to do it. It’s practically complete. The body is solid, and the doors open and close great. The chrome is very nice, and the stainless on the roof is beautiful. There are no cracks in the glass. The original door panels are pretty nice. Just the carpet at the bottom is rough. When I bought the car, the engine turned. When I tried to hand turn the engine recently, it no longer is free. I don’t know what happened, because I’ve had the car in dry storage the whole time. I haven’t had a chance to investigate any further, and I’m hoping it’s not that bad. The car also has a broke torsion bar. I bought it like this. I bought a new one, and I’m including it with the car. As for rust, there are a few holes in the drivers floor pan. And one in the passenger side. The rear has no holes. There are also two holes in the trunk. It seems to be the problem area in these cars. I’m including pics of them all. Another problem area in these cars is the opening at the base of the trunk lid. But it’s completely solid on this car. I also found some bondo at the bottom of the rear quarter panels. But not much. I was told this car sat in an eccentric guys kitchen for like a decade. Weird, but I thought I’d mention it. I put a battery in the car, and the headlights and taillights come on. The rear windows operate. The front windows don’t, but I can hear the motors try to move them. The door locks make a sound, but don’t lock or unlock the doors. The map light turns on too. Overall, the car is well worth restoring. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. The auction is no reserve with a very reasonable starting price. I’m not offering shipping, but I will help a shipper load the car if you send one. $500 Payment within 48 hours. The full sale price must be paid in 7 days. I’m also asking the car to be picked up within 2 weeks. Thanks!!
