VERY cool original survivor 1968 Camper Special. This truck was in my buddy's family for over the past 20 years. Used on the farm for haulin'. All of the patina is REAL and not faked like the current trand. If you want to go the next step, give it a quick sand down and clear it. It has a 390 , which starts very easily. Motor sounds great. A little sputtery on the low rpms, you can tell its due for a tuneup (hasnt had one in ages. plugs, rotor, cap, maybe a carb adjustment). Ive owned countless old cars over the years, please believe me when I tell you this one should tune up just fine !! Only has one body rot through spot on the door, that Im showing you the size comparison with my hand. Also, the rear bumper has some rust seperation. Motor is quite clean for the age, with not a whole lot of oil/grime/grease. Would be an easy power wash if desired. Rims have some surface rust in spots. Tires have excellent tread, but showing some weather checking in areas from age. I dont see any checking that should affect safety. But for looks, I suggest putting some low-profiles on and dropping it a few inches. I had big plans for this truck when I bought it from Phil, but we are now moving into a new home, and I have to clear out my collection of "some day" and "when I get around to it(s)" projects ha ! This was Phil's daily driver. He also used to take it to Florida every few years to visit family. Last trip was in 2012. He says every trip was trouble free except an alternator issue a few years back, and that has been replaced. With a little bit of time and effort into it, this truck could be just amazing ! If my opinion matters, Id wet sand it, take the light surface rust spots down to bare, clear coat it, drop it 6" or more, tune it up, and you'd be stylin ! Estimated time into doing this, if you have one friend helping, about a week on and off, depending on how many cold beers ya crack !
