Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A “NO RESERVE” AUCTION, MEANING THE HIGHEST BID WINS SUNDAY NIGHT @ 9:30EDT/6:30PDT Up for auction in sunny Palm Springs, California is this beautiful 1985 Porsche 944 that I recently purchased from a family in Aliso Viejo, an upscale suburb in Orange County. I don’t know much about the car other than its ownership history, which was told to me by the gentleman I bought it from and meshes with what Carfax shows (see the Carfax report in the ebay hosted pics above). The car was purchased new in the state of Washington by a gentleman as an anniversary gift for his wife. It was never her primary car, hence the low mileage. In 2010, after 25 years of ownership, the wife passed away and the gentleman gave the car to his granddaughter, who lives down here in Laguna Hills, another high-end Orange County suburb. The massive paperwork file I got with this car indicates that the granddaughter got it registered and passed the smog check on the second try. She apparently drove it very little and sold it in July 2012 to the gentleman I bought it from. He purchased it as father/son project but was never able to get his son interested. It’s been languishing in his garage since then, seeing minimal use, and is in a state of limbo at the DMV. The car starts, runs and drives … but not quietly. Probably the result of its recent slumber. I don’t know how to explain it; the engine is simply louder than it should be and I really have no idea why. It was loud enough, though, that I chose to flatbed it the 100 mile trip back to Palm Springs instead of driving it. If you are able to come inspect the car in person, please do so … but if you’re far away and would feel comfortable having a local mechanic do a condition report for you, I’ll make the car as available I can. Re: the DMV limbo comment -- The clear CA title is still in the granddaughters name, but with additional bills of sale tracking the gentleman I bought it from and now me. If you’re in CA, no problem, but if you’re concerned about this presenting an issue when you go to register it in your state, let me know and I’ll do the legwork on your state’s DMV website to see if it’s a problem or not. If it is, I’ll simply register the car in my name and get a new title that I’ll then send to the buyer. Our CA DMV processing rarely takes more than two weeks. There are 80+ photos below showing this Porsche from top to bottom, inside and out. I want to give the buyer the ability to “know” the car as well as possible, because most of the time they are too far away to come and inspect it personally. I include this many photos because my 100% positive feedback score over 15 years on ebay is very important to me. Please don’t hesitate to reach out through the ebay messaging system should you have any questions. I’ll do my best to answer them!
