Vehicle Detail
1986 Austin Mini Cooper. I imported this from the UK in 2013. It is Right hand drive, and has front disc brakes. It has a 1380cc engine with a close ratio 4 speed. It is very quick, and one of the most fun cars I have ever owned. I wanted to make it mechanically sound before worrying about cosmetics. It has had about $11,000 worth of work in the last 4,000 miles, including brakes, complete clutch, shock, wheel bearings, front end, rear main seal, exhaust, manifolds, etc. I have all receipts in hand. I also have a full cloth sunroof new in the box. New wheel arches, new trunk hinges, new foglights, etc. The plan was to strip it, paint it, and have a very nice, very fast, mini. Instead of painting it then selling it, I figured let someone else decide what color they want the car to be. It does have some rust, mostly bubbles, nothing major, no holes in the floor, etc. It has a pop up sunroof, that does not leak If you want a mechanically finished, non smoking, no leaking oil, mini, this is it. Want a perfect looking car, this is not it. Any questions, just ask. Everything is included in the price, car, parts, extra wheels, etc. This car is 100% legal, Maryland title, not a Re-Vin (illegal) import It's a 1986, but I had to put 1980 because Ebay does not recognize the VIN Below is a link to many large photos. 40 large Photos Here is an answer for a few questions: Q: How bad is the rust? anything structural? A: The worst spot of rust is in the trunk, and is in the above photos. Non of the rust has gotten worse since I brought it over from England. It is garage kept Q: How does it run? A: It runs great! It is also a 30 year old car that is based on a 50+ year old car. It is loud, it makes noises, it rattles, etc. Sometimes you get a whiff of oil, sometimes gas, just like any other old car. this will not run as smooth as a 2015 Toyota Corolla. If you want that, buy the Corolla. If you want to go 100mph in a golf cart, buy this. Q: Why are you selling it? A: I always wanted a classic mini, and wanted to import it myself, so I did. I made it mechanically sound with plans to do the cosmetics later. I just haven't done that yet. I own other cars, and drive those more. My daily driver is an Audi R8. I just finished a restoration of my 64 Datsun 1500, so I have vintage and sports covered. I just don't see using this one much. If it does not sell, I will just keep it, and do the cosmetics. Q: What parts do you have? A: I have the parts to finish the cosmetics. Full cloth sunroof, trunk hinges, door hinges, wheel arches, fog lights, pinstripes, roof trim, and I am sure a few little things here and there. Q: Can I come see it? A: Anytime Q: What is the reserve? A: There is none. High bidder owns it.
