1981 MB 380 SL This is a genuine one owner 1981 380 SL until January of this year. It has only 41K correct miles. A really nice looking Silver with light gray leather and navy soft top. V8, automatic. I bought this Mercedes from the lady that bought it new. She has taken care of the car for almost 34 years. She had it titled in her business name then in her personal name but it was always hers. It was always kept inside the garage at her home and now kept in mine with the cover on. When I drive this car on a sunny day or in the evening when the air starts to cool and the top is down it relaxes me and allows me to unwind from all the stress in life. That is what a classic convertible should do right? If it is not fun and doesn’t put a smile on your face why have it. It goes down the road at 70 MPH as smooth as can be. The engine runs fine with no known leaks. My garage floor stays dry. The transmission shifts just right. This car is a time capsule. It is in excellent condition showing no more than minor wear. It has a perfect navy blue convertible top. This SL has real leather upholstery, not the more common MB Tex vinyl. Everything works. It has the original factory hard top which I have off the car currently sitting on its stand. I have buffed the paint to show quality. The car has never been in accident. The original paint shines like new. All panels and most of the paint is original. There only a small area where a scratch was repaired that is not original paint. The wood dash is excellent. I don’t think there are any cracks in the varnish. The carpets are perfect. The wheels are perfect. The original spare is in the trunk. The cruise works. The A/C blows cold. I had it checked over thoroughly and serviced as needed. The car was driven enough to keep all seals and hydraulics in good shape and it had regular service from her local mechanic. A few minor repairs were completed by me so it is in top flight mechanical shape. Drive it anywhere. The exterior bright work is all real stainless and chrome and is perfect. I know, I polished it all with metal cleaner. The only aftermarket items are a Pioneer Supertuner from the 80’s and some coco floor mats. Minor picks are: The gas gauge is a little fluky at below half a tank. The original muffler is showing some corrosion. If you have wanted one of these cars take a good look. It will certainly be worth more as time goes on and these MB r107 chassis cars become even more collectible. Go ahead and reward yourself and enjoy it as it appreciates.
