Vehicle Detail
68 Ford Torino GT Fastback--my daily driver. This car is in amazing condition for its age--original engine & original paint. "C' Code 289 engine, built at the Kansas City assembly plant during June of '68 & shipped to Seattle. It spent its 46 years here in the Pacific Northwest where we don't use salt on the roads. I'm the 3rd owner--the first owned the car in Seattle from 1968-2004 and then the Torino sat in a barn unused from 1984-2004. The second owner 2004-2014 from northern Oregon lovingly rebuilt the engine, replaced the 3-speed on the column with a freshly built C-4 floor shift, converted the manual drum brakes to front power disc from a '69 Torino. He also rebuilt the 8in rear end & installed a posi unit, so now its a 3.25 Traction-lok. Since I've had it over the last year, I've literally driven it daily to work on the Oregon State campus where it gets a lot of attention. I swore that I'd never sell it, but things change-- I'm relocating and I can't take it with me. She has a bench seat great for nostalgic summer cruise-ins with your honey! Still wearing its original maroon paint (except the hood) with reflective gold c-stripe. 12,000 miles on completely rebuilt drivetrain. Excellent mechanical condition. Near perfect black vinyl interior. Original 289 engine. Polished aluminum Edelbrock intake and carb, Hedmann headers, electronic ignition. C-4 Auto in the floor with B&M shifter done right (originally a 3-speed "on the column" car.) Disc brakes with brand new booster. 3.25 traction-lok rear end. Classic whitewalls with knockoffs. Handles tight with all new suspension parts and manual steering with no slop. 1969 GT functional hood scoop with blinkers. Retro sound stereo w/300w speakers that looks factory with Bluetooth & iphone synch for hands free phone calls. Vintage Sun Super Tach (dated Nov '68). Brand new old-stock jack (NOS) factory spare with brand new tire in the trunk. Body has a some smacks and dents as expected from a 46 year old car that's never been repainted. In the year that I've driven her daily I've done the following: New Brake Booster Replaced front & rear bumpers Installed a radiator shroud & original fan Replaced the bench seat Installed the 1968 Sun Super Tach Installed a Vintage Superior Products Steering Wheel Installed a New-Old-Stock factory Clock that functions as new Installed a New-Old-Jack assembly & New spare tire Installed a Retro-Sound Model 2 Stereo w/ 300w JBL Speakers and 180W in dash dual coil speaker all in the Factory locations Scott Drake reproduction speaker grilles Scott Drake Passenger side mirror Performed a "Shelby Drop" on the front Upper Control Arms giving the car better a better stance & improved handling KYB Gas-Adjust shocks all the way around Fresh alignment Fresh oil change Replaced the steering column with a floor shift model (no shift collar) Lots more... She's not a show car and will need paint and body to become one--but she's the best driving classic I've ever had! Never been re-painted--You know exactly what you're getting, they only have their original paint once. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country today! I also have a ton of spare parts that go with the car including: front & rear window chrome trim, chrome wheel openings, 4 window regulators, spare door & 1/4 window glass, wiper motor, washer pump, original steering column and steering wheel, small brake pedal for 4-speed & more. Don't have the original 3-speed--sorry, 2nd owner tossed it. If you have any questions, please contact me before bidding. Brian 541-908-1298
