After the enormous success Mercedes-Benz had with the R107 body SL, the stakes were incredibly high when they introduced the new R129 500SL in 1989. On March 9th, 1989 all eyes were on the Mercedes-Benz stand at the 59th annual Geneva Motor Show. The new R129 500SL and 300SL were introduced to the public and press and the reviews and reaction were incredible. It was THE car of the 1990’s and went into full production immediately. For model year 1993, Mercedes-Benz introduced a brand new 6 litre 12 cylinder engine that produced 389 horsepower. One of the most prestigious cars money could buy, the 12 cylinder 600 carried on as the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line. The new SL was so advanced and so well built the model lasted through model year 2002. The R129 body saw a major mechanical overhaul and small facelift for 1999 with vast improvements to the drivetrain. 2002 marked the final year of the R129 and too many was the last of the real quality Mercedes.
European Motor Studio is proud to offer this rare and beautiful 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL600 finished in Black over Black. The 100% original black paint is beautiful and shows a stunning deep luster and shine. The car has just undergone a full detail and paint shows beautifully, there is one small hairline scratch on the hood a few small stone chips on the front lower skirt that have been touched up. There are a couple small scrapes on the lower skirt. The leather interior is beautiful showing very light wear on the driver’s seat. The wood is gorgeous and shows only one all hairline crack in the wood steering wheel. All of the switchgear is in excellent condition showing minimal wear. All of the carpets are very clean with minimal wear showing. The convertible top is original and in excellent condition showing very light wear. The car starts right up and idles superbly. There are no leaks of any kind and the car does not smoke under start up or acceleration. This SL has been properly maintained by the Mercedes dealership or a specialist since day one and is in exceptional mechanical condition. The car just been serviced by Mercedes-Benz of Chandler including a full service and tune up, new brake pads and rotors front and back, a new power antenna, new mass air flow sensor and a new convertible top micro sensor and latch. Everything is operating as designed, including all of the electronics, the windows, the locks, the power top and hardtop, the roll bar, the heated seats, the power seats, memory and power steering wheel tilt and telescoping. This SL comes with 2 original Mercedes keyless entry switchblade keys, the original wind screen still in the wrapper, CD changer, original owners handbooks, warranty and service books, original tool roll, jack and spare and the original Mercedes bag for the windscreen. This one owner SL600 is an exceptional car that has never been involved in an accident. There are no signs of rust or damage anywhere on the car.
