Vehicle Detail
1960 MGA 1600 Sports Car For Auction For Auction is a 1960 MGA 1600 Sportscar. According to NAMGR it is the 474th 1600 to be built and came off the assembly line in May 1959 for the 1960 season. Being a early 1600 it has both 1500 & 1600 specs, an interesting early 1600 A. The car is original, has a comprehensive service history from the 1st owner through till now. I am the 4th owner of this car. It's records indicate that it had careful ownership, with components replaced /rebuilt as needed. All the serial #'s match. The frame is straight, it has never been crashed. Since I have owned it, I have rebuilt some of the driveline, front suspension, and kept it all stock, as such it is a wonderful sports car, crisp responsive handling, and good acceleration. The engine was rebuilt at odometer reading 81904, the gearbox was also rebuilt with new synchros and some gears, all the brakes have had new cylinders and hoses, and master cylinder replaced, as well as many other services performed...carbs rebuilt etc., all the bills for parts are in the cars file. The odometer reads now 90109. The car was custom painted I was told 1960's in the "Cunningham" theme, by the original owner, and it's finish has a rich "survivor car" patina, something special that can't be faked. I have left it this way as there is a strong following for survivor cars. Many MGA's are meticulously restored as "Show Cars"/ "Trailer Queens", this is a drivers car, it's not perfect, it's original, it's 55 years old. The roar from the sports exhaust, the racing stripe, the low ground clearance, crisp responsive performance, you know you're behind the wheel of a classic sports car...this MGA is a beaut. In my care it has only been driven in dry weather. With it are some assorted spare parts, luggage rack, service manual, and the car records file. It has a blue convertable top w/sidescreen windows, original tool kit and jack, tonneau. This car will give many years of happy driving. This is a Abingdon built car, built by sportscar enthusiasts, and has been owned in the MG club by MG enthusiasts. Here's a great opportunity to own a nostalgic classic sports car, full of character, kept in fine fettle and ready for more fun...bid now!!! S&H Buyer is responsible for insurance arrangements.
