This 1988 Buick Reatta with the optional sunroof is one of 4,708 Reattas made in 1998. My wife bought the car around 1993 from the original owner. It was always garaged and with the exception of maybe 20 times one year when her other car was down, never driven in the winter. This was her “summer car” and she used it. She drove it to work, took it on trips, and enjoyed it. That means it has some scratches, dings, and shows the wear that a car with 95k miles would show. But it is a rock solid car that’s all there, starts, runs, drives, and with the exception of surface rust underneath on some of the chassis components, is completely rust free. My wife is terminally ill and can no longer drive. If not for that, we wouldn’t be selling. Body: As mentioned, the body is rust free, and in the rare claret red metallic color. There are stone pecks in the front, some dings and scratches here and there, but no panel damage and to our knowledge the car has never been wrecked. Everything is original. All of the lamps work and the glass, which also appears to be original, is excellent. Interior: The interior is gray leather with full power seats. It is completely original. There is a small round spot on the console lid where the leather cracked and some mystery spots on the carpet on the driver side and on the carpet on the deck that I tried to show in the pictures. Everything works except the power windows. Probably a switch but I don’t know for sure. I had a replacement console lid made but the color isn’t exactly the same so I never installed it. It will go with the car. Mechanical: The car has a brand new battery and oil change within the past two weeks. The 3.8 starts right up and runs and drives really well. The car has not been driven for about 3 years, and while it starts, runs and drives well, that isn’t to say there may be a need for some TLC here and there. The tires are all the correct size and are in very good condition however, the right rear is a different brand compared to the other three. The car has a hard brake pedal and, as mentioned above, the power windows aren’t working. The a/c was converted to R134 and blows cold. The message center works as it should. It looks to me like the engine oil pan gasket is seeping. Not catastrophic, but I wanted to mention it. The car had new front and rear pads and rotors installed around 3,000 miles ago. I don’t know anything about these cars, really. If there are common areas of concern that I am not addressing, please send an email and ask questions. I may be able to keep the car for a short period of time if necessary but please ask before bidding. Regardless, full payment is due and expected within 7 days of the end of the auction.
