Vehicle Detail
In 1982, this 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass S was traded in to Nebraska’s Bullock Chevrolet Dealership by the original owner. Any coveted trade-ins received were stored away in a warehouse. Last year Bullock Chevrolet liquidated all trade-ins at auction. This 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S G87 model was among the 50 or so liquidated. After being transported to Southern California and unveiled, we discovered a well preserved piece of history. This is an original numbers matching car complete with factory installed a/c, AM radio and the original build sheet found on top of the fuel tank (see pictures). The VIN stamped engine is a Rocket 350 2 barrel engine (see pictures) with less than 72,000 documented miles. Since the engine had not been started in 32 years all precautions were taken before turning it over. Among the precautions were changing and flushing all fluids, lubing engine by hand, replacing all major tuneup parts and battery, removing and cleaning fuel tank, fuel sending unit and rubber lines, new lifters, thermostat, fuel pump and replaced brake lines and water pump. It started right up and runs smoothly. It sat indoors for 32 years (see pictures) and still runs great. The Turbo Hydra Matic 350 three speed automatic tranny is also numbers matching and shifts smoothly. It went from an unusable, unknown relic to being driven like a daily driver over the open road. The last inspection sticker on the Windshield is from Sept 1982 (see pictures). The car is complete sans a couple little trim pieces. The bench seat is not original to the car. Interior dash is excellent. Carpet, Headliner and package tray are not (see pictures). Vinyl top was removed during its storage. Since it was inside most of its life there is very little rust. Just the usual lower rear quarters (see pictures). Trunk, floor pan and undercarriage are in fine shape (see pictures). Our goal was to take an original, complete and preserved vehicle and get it back on the road. We succeeded. It runs great. If you are driving it home from it's present location in Palm Desert, CA, 92211, I suggest 4 new tires—the 15 inch tires on there now are very old. Take a look at the pictures of the keys and hand/typewritten title. They are over 40 years old and as original as it gets. The glove box still has a few Green Stamps in it. Manuals and brochures were added (see pictures). VIN 3g87h2z133546 1972 Hardtop Coupe, 350 2 BBL built in Fremont, CA (see picture). Fisher Body Tag 1972 G87 Hardtop Coupe, Bench Seat, Paint code 48, Sequoia Green (see picture). Bid to Buy. There is a Reserve but it is very low. I will answer and post all questions right away.
