Vehicle Detail
1971 Chevelle SS tribute car. Black with white SS stripes and appropriate SS badging. This car was an original black car with black interior. It was also a factory bucket seat/console shifter car with disk brakes and a 350/350/10 bolt powertrain. This car was restored over a few years and finished in 2011. It has a professionally rebuilt engine and transmission. The 4-bolt main 350 engine was bored .030 over and has a steel crank, resized rods with new bolts, hypereutectic 10:1 pistons, Sealed Power moly rings, and a Z-28 high pressure oil pump. It has an RV hydraulic flat tappet cam, double-row timing chain, and completely rebuilt 882 casting heads. Hardened seats and new 1.94/1.50 valves were added for unleaded fuel. It is topped off with an Edelbrock performer intake manifold, Edelbrock 750cfm carb, and old-school finned valve covers. Spark comes from an HEI distributor. This powertrain is not numbers-matching. The 10-bolt rear end was upgraded with new bearings and seals, but has the original 3.08 gears. This car has great power and is very dependable. With a lower gear in the rear end, it would be very quick. The suspension was also completely rebuilt with original parts during the rebuild. The brakes were redone on all four corners. I added a larger, aftermarket sway bar and new coil springs and shocks on the front. This car had been in storage in Texas when I found it and had very little rust. The body was stripped down to bare metal. A small patch of rust behind the rear right tire was replaced with a welded-in patch. The front fenders, grill, front bumper, and hood were replaced with new pieces. The roof skin was also replaced due to damage from a tree (it was easier to replace than try to pull the dent). Very little filler was used on this car. It was repainted the original black, and white SS stripes were added before several coats of clear. This muscle car is a head-turner. The interior was completely redone with a new dash pad, door and rear panels, carpet, seat covers, and headliner. The car was originally an A/C car, but is missing the compressor, brackets, and A/C hoses. The other A/C parts like the condenser and dryer are new and in place. I was told it would cost roughly $800 to get the A/C operational. The stereo was also installed in 2011 along with kick panel speakers and new rear speakers. It has a CD player and an AUX cord in the glove box. The car had a big sub woofer box and amp in the trunk, but I removed them. The sub woofer box slid around and scratched the trunk floor (see the picture). The wiring is still there. The steel five-spoke 15" wheels (offered on Chevelle SS models in '71 and '72) were stripped and painted the proper color. There are new tires on all four corners and a new full-size spare. The stainless beauty rings and chrome center caps are brand new as well. I built this car to drive. After the 2011 rebuild, it was a daily driver for two years. Since then, it has been garage kept and driven every nice weekend. There are small scratches, door dings, and imperfections in the paint and body. The passenger front fender has a small dent above the wheel well. There is some wear in the interior, but it is still in good shape. If you are looking for a professionally built show car, this is not your car. If you are looking for a well-built muscle car at an affordable price, this one is for you. I have invested nearly $20,000 (I have all the receipts) and countless hours in this car. It is priced to sell. I have two other project cars and just bought a boat- something has to go! This car is sold as-is, where-is, and has no warranty. The pick up or delivery of this vehicle is the responsibility of the winning bidder. It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this bid at any time.
