This is a recently completed restoration of a 1962 FJ40 Land Cruiser. The FJ40 spent the majority of its life in sunny southern California until coming back east to be restored. It still has the original California black plate tag. Being a So Cal FJ40, it was a great platform for restoring, as the only rust prior to restoration was in the rear sill, which was cut out and replaced with new sheet metal during the restoration process. Pre-restoration pictures are provided in the Photobucket link below to verify how rust free and clean the original body was. This was a frame-off restoration with the FJ40 being dissembled all the way down to the bare frame, then each part cleaned and reassembled accordingly. I used OEM Toyota parts where possible and quality aftermarket parts when not available from Toyota. Here is a partial list of new items on the FJ40. I performed a compression test which showed a healthy engine with compression roughly 140 PSI across the board (photos for verification available in the Photobucket link). All that was done to the drive-train was a basic tune-up, with new plugs, cap, rotor, fuel filter, and new valve/rocker gaskets. I also adjusted the valves and set the timing. I cleaned up and painted the drive-train, but nothing was done internally to the engine, transmission, or transfer case. The exterior body was painted with a single stage acrylic. The underside was covered with raptor liner, and the interior floors were raptor lined and color-matched to the exterior. All switches, lights, and gauges work. In summary, as the pictures show, this is a clean and thorough restoration. Please ask questions as I am sure there are many details I left out.
