Very nice 1986 500cc Interceptor. I purchased this bike last year after it had been sitting for almost 5 years in a shed. My intent was to go through it and get it on the road for this summer, but a new job has been taking up a lot of my time and my riding will be limited for a while. So far, I have really only got as far as giving the bike a good cleaning. The fuel tank has been purged of rotten fuel and cleaned. I also gave the carbs a light cleaning. The oil was changed and new plugs were installed and it fired right up. It does however, run rough. Upon close inspection, I could see the rubber carb boots are cracked and I suspect a vacuum leak is the cause of it running rough. They will need to be replaced and a thorough carb cleaning and sync would probably be a good idea. I did ride it and goes through the gears great, the clutch is good. I was drawn to this bike because it is complete and the original paint and plastics are in great shape. The tank has no dents, no rust and only a few minor scratches. The faring and side plastics also look great. The seat has a little wear, but not rips or tears. Overall this bike has a ton of potential. It only needs a few basic maintenance items that result from an older bike sitting for an extended period. For almost a 30 year old bike it looks great. I bought one of these brand new in 1986 and they are amazing little bikes. They were way ahead of their time in looks and performance.
