Vehicle Detail
1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet MK1 ConvertibleWhite with white topLow mileage - Only 100,000 miles on this car.The top is about eighteen months old.I replaced the seats with nicer MK1 Cabriolet seats. They are a bit dirty right now as you can see in the pictures. I fairly certain this will clean right up with upholstery cleaner as they were clean a few months ago (kids). The car presently has rubber mats in it rather than carpeting, I took the carpeting out with plans to replace it. The floor pans are rust free. The interior is presentable overall with no rips in the upholstery or cracks in the dash.Tires are nearly new. Recent front end alignment. It had regular fluid changes. The VW received a thorough fuel system revamp from Karmechanics in Berkeley. They did a complete check of the vehicle and although I am mechanically inclined, I had them rebuild the fuel system at a cost of $2,000 - this receipt will be included in the sale.Needs:The front CV boots are cracked so they will need to be replaced. I am supplying two replacement axles with the boots (brand new). CV boots are installed on the new axle assemblies. I also have new outer transmission seals which can be put on when the axles are replaced. The one on the driver's side is leaking. These get replaced at the same time as the axles. The car has a scrape low on the drivers side. You can see it in the pictures. It also has a small ding on the front of the hood. The paint could be better. I did not have the opportunity to put this car up on a lift for these photos, but there is zero rust on the undercarriage, in the trunk or anywhere else. This car has been in the SF Bay Area since it was new. If you really need to see the underside I can get it on a lift for pictures and add them. The engine runs wonderfully. It could not possibly idle or accelerate better than it does. Runs like a Swiss watch. I have always been amazed at how well these cars perform while still getting such excellent fuel economy. The brakes work well as they have been recently serviced. The emergency brakes and the radio work. I recently replaced the electric fan which is why you can see writing on it in the picture. The front trim is missing on the passenger's side as shown in the picture. All of the gauges and all of the lights work as they should. I am mechanically inclined and have taken good care of this car. I have spent a lot of money and time on it. You will be getting a far better than average Cabriolet with extremely low mileage if you win this auction. You should be able to drive it home if needed, but keep in mind that it needs the attention that I have outlined above so if is going to travel across the country then shipping is a better choice.California registration and title are current and clear.By all means let me know if you have any questions. On Feb-04-15 at 18:02:49 PST, seller added the following information: 1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet MK1 ConvertibleWhite with white topLow mileage - Only 100,000 miles on this car.The top is about eighteen months old.I replaced the seats with nicer MK1 Cabriolet seats.
