By the early 1970’s Lotus had decided they wanted to take their brand more upscale. They had an excellent race history and wanted their road cars to stick with the same idea of “Lighter is better”. Giorgetto Giugiaro was given the task of designing a new radical exotic shape. The Esprit debuted at the Paris Auto Salon in October of 1975 and went into production in late 1976. The Esprit used the famous steel back bone chassis and glassfibre body with the engine sitting in the middle. The excellent weight distribution and light weight body gave the Esprit good performance and handling, escalating the company into a more modern era. By the early 1980’s, Lotus’ venerable 4-cylinder was due for a power increase. A factory Turbocharger was introduced on the Esprit, ranking it as one of the best performing and handling cars of the time. A true Supercar, the Esprit soldiered on seeing a face lift for 1988 by Peter Stevens. For 1995, Lotus introduced the S4s which produced 300hp and a zero to sixty time of just 4.4 seconds. 1995 was the last of the original 4-cylinder engine and the only year the S4s was produced.
European Motor Studio if proud to offer this 1995 Lotus Esprit S4s finished in gorgeous Monaco White over Charcoal leather. This S4s left the Hethel factory in February of 1995 making it one of the last of 331 S4s’ produced worldwide. The car has traveled a documented 53,260 miles from new and has been professionally maintained by the dealer or specialists in the marque. The Monaco white paint on the car is in excellent condition showing minimal age and still retains a nice clear shine. There are a few stone chips along the lower driver and passenger side rockers and on the front lower nose and spoiler. There are a few small areas of spider webbing on the lower front air dam and on the back engine hatch that are just starting to show. The rest of the body is in excellent shape showing no signs of damage or repair work of any kind. All of trim appears to be original and still in nice original condition. All of the glass is nice and clear and does not have any chips or cracks visible. The original 5-spoke Lotus sport wheels are in great shape showing some signs of wear, each wheel does have a couple markings or scratches. The interior is all original and in great shape showing some minimal signs of use. The driver and passenger seats are still soft and do show some lite cracking/creasing but free from any damage or tears. The center console leather is nice and soft and does show very lite wear. The leather center console box housing the AC and radio sit in is peeling back as seen in the pics. The headliner is in nice original condition showing very little wear. The wood is in excellent condition and does not show any signs of discoloration or cracking. This Esprit has just been fully sorted by the Lotus dealership all within the last 600 miles. Scottsdale Lotus performed a cam belt service including tensioners and bearings, cam cover seals and cam gaskets, valve adjustment and shims, and numerous vacuum lines. The car also has a brand new AC compressor and a new exhaust clip. The tires still have about 60% tread life left. The car runs and drives exceptionally well. It starts right up and idles with ease and does not smoke or leak any fluids. The boost kicks in as it should and gives smooth acceleration through all of the gears. The transmission shifts well and without any grinding or issues. The clutch feels solid and free from any slipping. The brakes are in great shape and feel very solid as is the steering and suspension. The car still handles incredibly well and feels very solid on the road. There are no dash lights on and everything appears to be functioning as designed. All of the lights are functioning including the headlights, taillights, side marker lights, interior lights, brake lights, reverse lights, high beams and front storage light. The AC is ice cold and works on all of the fan speeds and the heater is blowing warm. The power windows, power mirrors, power door locks and factory alarm system are all operating as they should including the radio. The car comes with the original owners manual, service manual, dealer book and warranty book, an ignition key and door key, original tools, spare tire and jack, a clean Carfax, Box A actual miles title and service history over the past few years. This is an excellent running and driving Esprit that has been well cared for its entire life and has never been wrecked or damaged.
