Serious Bidders Only Please VIN 7805I24, Modern CA Plates: 7FIT989, & One (1) Original CA Black Plate: CEP 081, Clean California title in my name, NOT a salvage title. Owned by Studebaker Drivers’ Club members. 100% Stock, down to original factory lumber pencil marker writing on firewall, engine paint, air cleaner and jack. 90% original exterior paint. Since purchasing two years ago the goal was to get car running and driving and maintain originality. All work professionally done with receipts. Solid trunk, clean underside, solid doors/door bottoms, needs 6”x6” patch panel on passenger side floor where original floor mats were left and in spots along rocker boxes. Patch panels are commercially available and affordable. Rest of car is solid, quite straight, especially for its age. Door posts are good - often a weak point in these cars. -all five original painted 15 “ wheels with original full wheel covers included -3.73:1 Gear Ratio, Dana 44 axle-All original glass, all tinted as a factory option -The Optional Studebaker factory undercoating and CA weather accounts for very solid under body, remove a bit of undercoating anywhere and pristine Studebaker Blue paint shows through. Electrical wiring, and contacts, as wiring is original and needs help Adjust fuel gauge- I had a new one installed but needs arm adjustment- easy to access through trunk floor) New speedometer cable Rubber seals and gaskets (all) Radio Antenna Side view mirrors I’ve driven this car 200+ miles on California freeways; with 3.73:1 rear gear ratio it's pretty quick to 70 mph. Same basic car as the Studebaker Speedster with less chrome, no leather and a fewer “luxury” features = less weight (about 250 pounds less). Great Weekend Cruiser and crowd favorite. Most, ladies, and even young women, who have never heard of Studebaker love this car, (I’m not kidding) even I get attention driving it and I’m pretty darned old. About 2,200 originally built. 500- 1,000 left. Clean/fix electrical switches for turn signals and brake lights I would advise against driving it too far and definitely NOT at night. Also cars in 1955 rarely had seat belts & this car has NO seat belts or shoulder harnesses, good brakes but are 4-wheel drum brakes- large diameter (11" front drums) but still takes longer to stop than modern cars - if you have never driven with unassisted (manual) drum brakes this takes some time to get used to. If you can find a more original, better running ’55 President Hard Top for less then buy it. This is a car you could drive around town as-is or restore as you go.Got some questions about the car. Purchase includes five (5) full wheel covers- the fifth one is for the spare. Also includes the original battery bolt down frame (holds car battery from the top with two bolts). And the extra trim piece that is for the rear-quarter passenger side of the car also goes with. Thanks Sale is: as-is, where-is, no warranty is offered, please remember this is a 60 year old car.
