Vehicle Detail
Hi everyone,For sale is my 1996 Volvo 850R. I purchased the vehicle in Nov. 2011 from a volvo mechanic in CT who owned another 850r and a 850 t5-r. I'm selling the car because I'm moved to NYC and have no need for it.In Nov 2012, the car overheated and the engine was damaged, so I bought a 94k mile 850R engine from New York and had it put in the car along with a new radiator and full tune-up (spark plugs, wires, timing belt, tensioner, etc), this was at 182k. In April 2013 I had the brakes done with new rotors and pads. In August of 2013, I moved to DC and the car was used once a week for a 5 mile grocery run.In Jan 2014, I had 4 new tires put on the car and these tires have about 3000 miles on them. There is also a spare volan in the trunk with a decent tire on it. I've had some other work done on the car (tie rods, replaced fuel injectors, new battery in April 2014) and I have receipts for all work done under my ownership. Car has an alpine deck with a usb port and ipod compatibility. Car runs and drives great, I drove it from DC to MA in June and drove it to NYC in the middle of July with no problems and the car doesn't leak or burn oil. I've done oil changes every 3000 miles or 3 months, depending on which came first, always with synthetic oil.Now the bad:Using the trip meter, I broke the odometer, which I didn't fix for about 6 months during which time I was driving about 1000 miles a month. Round it up, the odometer is off by at most 10k, so the car actually has 199k. In fixing the odometer, I broke the fuel gauge and coolant gauge damaging either the pins in the dash or the wiring harness. The fuel gauge I got around because the dash computer still tells how many miles til zero and the light still comes on when there is not enough gas to drive 50 miles. For the coolant gauge, I got a wifi odb connector and using an app on my phone, I can see what the temp is exactly. The odb adapter comes with the car.Driver side window goes up and down, but one of the mounts for the window is broken so when you put it down, the window tips forward and then if you put it up, it goes up at an angle which can be fixed by manually pushing the window backwards. All other windows work perfectly as well as the sunroof and the ac is ice-cold and the heat works great. For the past year the car sat for most of the week so the e-brake cables froze and the e-brake doesn't work. When up for inspection last January, the windshield wiper fluid froze in the tank so I rigged a new fluid tank with new hosing to get around that issue but all the old wiring is still there. The wipers don't work. One of the bolts has become de-threaded on the mechanism for both arms, so you can tighten the bolt, the wipers will work temporarily, and then the bolt will work its way lose and the wipers stop. The necessary part can be purchased for about $40 at a junkyard and installed in an hour. The mounts for the rear spoiler are broken, need to be re-welded. Car has been sitting for the last 4 months since I moved to New York, hasn't affected the car but it needs an oil change and I haven't had the opportunity to fully recharge the battery, so the battery may not hold a charge properly any more but it is covered under the triple a 3 year warranty. The sale does not include the thule roof rack but can for an additional $100. I have a video of the car which details the whole car but I can't seem to post a youtube link in this ad so please email for the video. I wouldn't hesitate to road-trip the car, you could put a couple of hundred dollars into it to fix the couple of issues with it (ebrake, wipers) and have a great daily driver, or rip the car apart and part it out and make a decent profit. There is no reserve, I want the car gone before I go back to New York. Happy bidding. On Jan-09-15 at 14:20:51 PST, seller added the following information: Local pickup only or you make all arrangement for auto transport. Vehicle is used and sold as is. No warranty assumed or implied. On Jan-11-15 at 17:40:43 PST, seller added the following information: There's a dent in the rear passenger door. You can kind of see it in the photo if you zoom in, it's pointed out with the rest of the flaws with the car in this video: http://youtu.be/gDzYAVFX-dk
