I picked this Dune Buggy up a year ago from a guy who had it the last ten years. It was covered up in his garage for the least six years and had not been started. I liked it because it was put together the right way and had all the Real patina not a cobbled together piece of junk. So when I got it I drained the gas tank,put fresh gas in it and rebuilt the carb and changed the oil put in a new battery and started it up and idled, it's an air cooled Volkswagon what do you expect. It was most likely painted in the 1980's this Heavy purple metallic over the original gold metallic as you can see in the pictures there are chips of paint around the blinkers where you can see the gold metallic under the purple and yes I know the interior matches the gold far better but hey its' thirty years old and in real nice condition no rips or tears.I threw a simple carpet in it all gauges seem to work except the gas gauge and mileage is unknown being a Dune Buggy Kit Car ! It has a new top on it windshield is in great shape and has the super rare original plexi glass side vents from the seventies. I also repaired the floor the correct way as shown in picture They both had a 4" rust hole from water that was trapped under the carpet so with a 10" x 10" floor from rust free pan I welded in correctly and seal seemed the right way ! no other rust on chassis as you can see in pictures I did NOT spray black undercoating all over the under carriage to show you there was No other rust just some minor surface rust that a 3M pad scuff and paint would make it Nice. Tires on the rear are the Original "Joey Chitwood" tires in real nice shape with some dry rotting but hold air fine and drive smooth down the road. Rims had some surface rust and I painted the inserts black to make them look better.I did call the Manx Co to find out if it was a Real Manx but it 'Is Not' Close in Most details ! This Dune Buggy was assigned a CT VIN Sticker ( Which makes it easier to register )which CT does on composite vehicles or kit cars. Also CT does not issue titles on 25 years and older they use" bill of sale only " ! which of course I have. So it is a street legal registrable Dune Buggy ! It turns a lot of heads and it is really fun to drive,Would be GREAT FUN on the Beach or tow behind a camper to get around as a second vehicle .Good Luck bidding I have 100% feedback so bid with confidence, located 20 miles outside of Hartford, CT.
