NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a low mile 1976 Ford Gran Torino. I bought this car a few years ago to build a Starsky and Hutch replica, but never got around to it. I've got other interests now, so its got to go to the highest bidder. This is the correct body and interior combination for a first season S&H car. This car was not built with a vinyl top like the vast majority of the Gran Torinos of this era, so it is the perfect core for a S&H build. This car spent its life in Kansas, and came to me with its Kansas tags still on it. It has the 351 Windsor 2bbl engine, power steering and brakes, A/C, (not working), and that's about it. Since I've had it, I've had the front brakes completely rebuilt, including pads, rotors, hubs, bearings, calipers, hoses, and master cylinder. I put two new no-name tires on the front, and good used tires on the rear. I've driven it very little, but it makes the 100 mile round trip to my job and home. It was sold to me as actual miles at 82k, and as complete as it is, I believe it. THE GOOD: Correct 2-door body without the opera window option for a Starsky and Hutch replica. Correct bench seat interior and base mirrors for a first season car, Good factory yellow paint shines up nice, except for a few thin spots on the roof. Very little rust, all of which is pictured. No rust through on the rear quarter panels, roof or trunk. Runs and drives, and stops safely. Horn, wipers, signals and lights all work. THE BAD: Low miles or not, this car is used. The interior will need completely redone, New plastic dash cover hides cracked dash. Carpet is shredded, front seat cover and foam is wasted. (previous owner was "full figured") A/C does not work. All gauges are dead except the speedometer and odometer. Nameplates are all missing, but rocker trim is included, although the rear pieces behind the wheels are damaged. Passenger door only opens from the inside. Windshield is cracked. Light hail damage on hood, roof and trunk (see photo of trunk for the worst). Lots of minor door dings and paint chips on the body sideline visible in photos. 3 larger dents as pictured. Trunk and floors are solid, except for a couple of pin holes in the driver's front floor, and a 2" diameter hole drilled into the drivers floor. (I suspect it is a "roadway relief" hole, if you know what I mean.) Power steering pump is loud. Car idles very low, and almost needs constant pressure on the gas pedal to stay running. Trans shifts good, but U-joints clunk a bit. Steering wheel is off by 1/8th of a turn, but car drives straight. Ashtray is missing, AM radio is in the trunk, but I don't know if it works. (Looks like a junkyard replacement.) I will include the original owner's manual, and a Ford Service Manual on CD. I'd drive the car locally, but I wouldn't trust it on a long haul. I can help with transport up to 200 miles from Tulsa, Oklahoma for $1.00 per loaded mile. NO RESERVE, BID TO WIN IT!
