Vehicle Detail
This bike is 25 years old, which technically qualifies it for "classic" registration where I live, which means no inspection necessary and reduced insurance rates too. It is a unique example of a cult classic. I've never seen one of these bikes for many years with less original miles on it than this one. I am a collector of unique and high quality Honda bikes from the 1980's and 90's. While most of my interest is in the V4 bikes such as Magna, VFR, etc., I couldn't resist acquiring this one when I found it a few years ago, because of what a "time capsule" it is... I believe the bike had only two real owners/riders in its life. The bike runs basically like new. The carb was rebuilt early this spring and it starts and idles smoothly, as well as revving easily and smoothly throughout its range. There is no sign of the bike ever being dropped or crashed. ----- Update Sept 13, 2014 ----You might have noticed in most of the photos that the windshield of the bike appears shorter than it normally should be. This is how it was when I got the bike. For some reason, one of the previous owners decided that they wanted to have a lower windscreen and evidently cut the top off! Well, if you check the last photo which I have just added, you will see that now the bike has a correct full windscreen on it. I have looked for the best one I could find here on ebay (at a cost of $120) and now have installed it on the bike. I will still include the original cut down windscreen in case someone prefers it that way!As of this time, as far as I can tell, the bike is 100% OEM stock condition. There are no aftermarket or modified parts on it. ---- Update November 3, 2014 ---- I have a very reasonable reserve on the bike at the moment, under $2000. If you have ever wanted to own one of these bikes, you will NEVER get a deal on one in this condition again, I can assure you of that. Remember, the bike is in almost 'new' condition, the drivetrain should not need any work for many years or miles. It is ready to ride, or add to your vintage bike collection. I bought this bike from a local dealer for $2400 a few years ago and have since invested an additional $500+ in its upkeep and servicing to keep it in its original condition. To compare this bike with a current model from Honda (a CBR250) you will have to spend more than $1200 MORE, and be stuck with a bike that accelerates like a dog compared to the VTR. Ask anyone who has owned or raced these bikes, they will tell you they can out-run larger more powerful bikes, especially on tight twisty road or race courses. If the bike doesn't sell by the end of November, I will relist it again in the Spring with a starting price of $2400 and no reserve.
