Vehicle Detail
This 1951 Chevy pickup on s10 long bed chassis was bought with a natural, cool patina. Was running and driving fine when bought. Paid a bunch for it.. and realized it was too much a rat rod for me and quite honestly very poorly done - floors, seat mounts, gas pedal, etc. Sheet Metal was installed over rotted through floors, rockers were half gone covered by the floorboards this guy installed. Seats mounted with four tiny metal tubes attached to the seat bottom. gas pedal some crazy hack job. Firewall had large holes unused. Inside kick panels were padded with extra sheet metal. Basically was just thrown together and in my haste to have the truck, I overlooked these items and just had to have them done right. Floors and rockers were not solid so I spend a ton to have a brand new floor pan from LMC truck installed. Tons of labor to cut out the old metal and make sure the new cab floor (one piece) was installed properly. Firewall holes also cleaned up and closed up nicely. inside kick panels done too. Spent about $2500 on this between new metal, labor, welding, etc. I have gotten the cab mounts made up which were expensive ($350). these attach to the the s10 frame so that the 51 cab mounts at the right points and height. The truck is apart at this point. The motor/trans has been removed but included in this sale (SBC 350/Turbo 350 tans). Driveshaft is disconnected from trans. I have the cab all redone in my garage with fenders, hood, grill and bumpers. Rest of chassis with bed mounted on it is together. To get this on the road, only a few things need to be done:Mount cab with my mounts already in hand (cost me $350 for 4 mounts).Reconnect wires to motor and lights - was already wired and working.Install metal tunnel for trans and mount shifter (shifter included)Mount brake booster to firewall & battery tray.Mount & install gas pedal. Mount hood, fenders (matching in patina & color)Install steering column/wheel to steering box (steering box included & mounted to frame)Seats (original seat tray - brand new) is there or grab two seats from junkyard.Motor/trans bolts put back in to secure motor/transReconnect driveshaftCheck frame welds - advised to add metal TO BE CLEAR, THIS IS NOW A PROJECT. VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING/DRIVING AT THIS TIME DUE TO METAL WORK REDONE. IT WAS - BUT DO THINGS ABOVE AND IT WILL BE.Check ebay and other CL ads to see these going for 12-14k. I think with a welder and a weekend this could be done easily by someone who has the right tools and space.Pictures show the original state of the truck, and also how it looks now. To be clear, cab is not mounted. Bed is mounted. Truck ran & drove fine before I pulled off cab.Video of chassis walkaround - http://youtu.be/n97VqAakcjw Please note the video was shot before the motor/trans/driveshaft/radiator was disconnected. It is currently all there just not attached like shown in video. Will try to put motor mount bolts back in to secure it. Aluminum radiator and hoses will come with truck as they are shown in video. No Title Note: I have truck for sale locally and have right to end auction at any time. Please only bid if you have the cash in hand and do not need to sell something else or ask someone else to buy. Sorry to sound like this but I have had some odd experiences selling vehicles and heard some stories after bids. If you bid, you agree to a $500 non-refundable deposit and to complete transaction. Thank you!!On Oct-30-14 at 17:34:22 PDT, seller added the following information: ************************* Update 10-30-2014 Took a current video for someone interested. Sharing to show what it looks like now but i can help remount motor pins and try to secure cab but will not be so simple as trans tunnel must be cut a little. http://youtu.be/aP71aRG8Ewc
