Vehicle Detail

1948 MG TC We purchased this TC from Donald Pepper in Carlsbad, California. Don purchased the car from a fellow named Bruce Vernier who bought the car from the original owner, so Don was the third owner and owned the car for 50 years. He bought the car when he was 19 years old in 1953 and drove it until 1957 when the flywheel came off and while it was down he had the engine and transmission rebuilt. The car has been rarely driven again, thus only 43,000 original miles. Don is now in his mid 70s. The car was partially assembled when we bought it. Don had it repainted in 1980 and carefully stored it since. We bought the car in 2006 and disassembled it to the chassis and began the restoration. Over my lifetime we have had probably purchased around 20 T Series MGs which included 4 TCs and this is the finest I have ever seen. Below I will describe what was done: Original steering wheel Original key! Original owners manual and tools as shown in picture Original air cleaner assembly Original excellent chrome (knock offs new) New walnut dash New and reconditioned wheels Five new tires New upholstery with leather seats New canvas top and side curtains (see pictures) New carpet, pads and floor boards New wire harness Tripod headlights New windshield The car was stored indoors in dry climate so there is no rust or wood rot One of the amazing things about the car is the way the doors shut (gently, slowly push the doors closed click, click)Engine and transmission rebuilt (all numbers match) _________________________________ The above was written by the owner of this car, a good friend of mine who specializes in MGT series restorations. I am selling this car for him. This is one of the finest MGTCs you will ever find, truly a #1 car, and is a low mileage, documented 4-owner car. Hagarty Price Guide shows a value of average retail - $31,500, and high retail - $46,300. You be the judge of what the car is worth. I am available to answer any questions you might have. The owner just does not drive this car much. It really needs to be in the hands of a person who will drive it and show it. Remember, these kind of cars don't come by very often. Included is the original owner's manual, jack and tool kit. Also fresh tan canvas top and side curtains. All numbers are matching. I would advise having this car transported by enclosed trailer. I can help in that department.
