Vehicle Detail
I bought this Mercedes about 3 years ago in an auction. It was an outside auction and the auctioneer started at $4,000.00, but it started to rain as he got to this car and the crowd started leaving. He said that the mileage was original. When it started thundering and lightning, he and I were the only ones outside getting soaked. Frustrated by the weather, he slowly reduced the starting price to $2,000.00. Since I was the only one participating at that time, he reluctantly took my offer of $1,000.00. I was told later by the auctioneer that it has been sitting for about 12 years. Since I found what I believe is the last inspection sticker, which was from 1999 and lists the mileage on it, I believe it may be a little longer. I towed the car home and it just sat next to all my other projects. I play with older American cars and have never played with a Mercedes. Last summer I played with it a little. It had a viper alarm system in it, but the sale did not include the alarm keypad. I went under the dash and removed it. I threw a battery(not included) in it and the only way I could keep it running was to constantly pour a trickle of gas down the carb manually. I wanted to make sure the motor was good before starting any other type of work. The motor ran nicely. I was not able to check the trans or other mechanical aspects of the car. Other projects and favors took priority and again, it just sat. I want someone to get it so it can be put to good use. This is what I found as I checked it out. Someone removed the radio and in doing so, disassembled a lot of the dash by the console and left it. When I opened the trunk, there were a couple of boxes of parts which are included with this sale and shown in the pictures. The rest of the interior is not in bad shape. The seats, door skins and headliner are in nice condition. When I had the battery in it, I found the sunroof opened and closed slowly and I think only the passenger rear window didn't work. All of the glass is intact. It does not leak in the rain. The carpeting is intact and in good condition. The body is not bad. It does not have any serious rot or dents. The paint is shot in my opinion. There are a couple of surface rust spots. It has custom wheels and a stock spare. The tires look good but I wouldn't trust them. Check the pictures out thoroughly. I have a lot more pictures of the interior and the parts and couldn't fit them in this ad. I would be glad to make them available to you upon request. The car is being sold as is and the sale is final. I think the car shows a lot of promise to anyone who is into old Mercedes. I'm selling it because I just have too many other projects I'll probably never get to, that came before this car. PayPal is preferred, the deposit procedure is required. Final payment can be arranged by contacting me, however, the car will not be released until the payment clears. There is no warrantee with the vehicle and the sale is in "as is" condition. All shipping arrangements and costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Do not hesitate to ask any questions. My priority on Ebay is to make my buyer happy. You'll see that if you check my rating. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
