Vehicle Detail

Here we have a real nice original barn find/survivor. Drivetrain is completely numbers matching, engine, trans, and rear end. Odometer shows 40,000 + miles with no proof or documentation other than condition of car and past down verbal history of car. Unable to locate a build sheet but has it's original body tag. Vehicle was made at the Lynch Road, MI. plant which does not show many options on tag, but it does indicate the important ones. D21 for 4-speed, a 26 confirming a performance axle package, V21 for the hood stripe, and everybodies favorite, N96 for the air grabber. it also shows the FE5 rallye red color and TX9 for the black décor group interior. Car runs and drivers very nicely, smooth starter and idle, runs cool with no overheating issues. Manual steering and brakes car. Car came with the performance axle package, where you get the 26 inch radiator, fan shroud, clutch fan(clutch missing), 3.55 sure grip 489 rear end, and the hemi suspension(6 leafs left and 7 leafs right side). Car was also optioned with the hood stripe, tranverse stripe, tips, and hood pins. Car also came with an AM radio, which does work. Trans shifts very nicely with no issues. reverse light works. Pedals still have the extra rods and cut off switch first used on 70 4-speed cars. Air grabber works great, switch handle and bezzle vg condition. All gauges function properly and quite accurate(nothing like an all original car). Gauge cluster very nice for 44 years old, chrome around gauges still nice and lenses clear with no cracks. needles and letters still white. No cracks in faceplate or dash pad. No cracks in steering wheel but the grain is worn away around most of outside circumference. No tears or rips in seats but do show wear, some fading in silver bands, a ring mark stain on front pass. side, usual old patina for original car. Door panels still very good with some fading in silver band. Pads and bases vg for age. headliner does have 2 large mouse holes above visors, as well as a couple others in roof area. Carpeting is worn out on drivers floor. All glass very good with very MINIMAL scratching, still have a nice shine. Most are original mopar date coded glass. Right door is Hercules, and windshield is a PPG, but no mopar logo. Still has to be old, there is an old 1973 District of Columbia safety sticker still on it. All windows operate properly. Most all window trim very nice, and the vent window frame post chrome is really nice for original. Bumpers are average with still some chrome shine, but show 44 years of age. Grille is exceptional with a few pencil point dings in trim. front turn signal lenses nice. reverse lenses very nice. The paint is on it's last buffing, it is very thin in places. I just put some good polish on it and some wax. to preserve what is left. It shows nicer in the pics than it is, when the sun is out, it loses some of the red, but that is what you get with an original 44 year old paint car. if you want that shiny sparkly chrome car, than it will need a total resto. car still wears it's original steel wheels, correct part number right next to valve stem. Tires are in great shape but old, they still show G70-14 as a size, which has to 30 or more years old? But they have excellent tread and don't leak a bit of air, and they just really match the old patina of car. A new set of BF Goodrich radials would just ruin the whole look! Standard dual exhaust with original tips. Engine is factory original except carb, but I do have the original Holley 4367, but does need some work. previous owner stated he had to replace cam and lifters and a new HV oil pump to get car going from long storage. Passed down story on car was it was bought by a young man in New York, then shortly after was sent to Vietnam, car was placed in storage at mothers home.He came back after a year or so and drove the car another 2-3 years and died of unknown reasons. Car again was stored at mothers house for a long period of time until someone was able to persuade a purchase. This is all unverified but would explain low mileage and originality of car. Undercarriage very good condition, no rust or rot out, not even in the back bumper area, pic of trunk extension and rear frame typical of whole undercarriage. Right lower quarter heavy bubbling and lifting(see pic). Right lower side in front of rear wheel with rust hole, caused by broken rear quarter window. I found a lot of broken tempered glass pieces in hole area, obviously trapping dirt and water. trunk pan very good condition, some small holes and pitting on right inner half(see pic). Trunk lid inner lip excellent, with original yellow crayon F-70 marking. No rust out in floor pans, still solid with some red overspray showing. No rust out in torsion bar frame area(see pic). The rear corner of windows have some rust out(see pic). No rust holes in fenders or doors or lower left quarter or trunk lid. There are scratches, dings, and surface rust scattered from normal use and wear. There is evidence of a very early crash with the drivers door area. There is some paint chipping near a couple of latch screws showing a blue color. the door was replaced and repainted, but the color and patina match all the other panels, you couldn't tell unless you took door panel off or the minute chipping in jamb. the lower sill under door sill step plate has had some work on it too. I've tried to cover as much as possible but it is hard to explain everything, it"s not as easy a new painted, new interior, rebuilt motor car. I drove it 40 miles to an all mopar show in august and it drove fine, as fine as a tired, belted tire, manual steering car can drive, But it got a lot of attention at the show and you will meet a lot of people. Kinda fun taking the attention away from fully restored over done cars. Like they say, their only original once. It took me years to find a car like this, but by chance I located another survivor that is rust free and in better paint condition, but a lot more expensive. If I can get a reasonable price for this one, i'll grab the other one, otherwise I have no problem with this one. It really is pure Road Runner- 4 speed, air grabber, hood stripe, hood pins, perf. axle package, and pop-on steel wheels...and red! This car is neat as is, or a perfect candidate for an original resto. Only parts missing are the inside trunk light housing covers, bench seat hinge covers, and clutch fan. Trunk does have original 103 hook and jack assembly, as well as original part number 70 trunk mat, some tears and fading, but an original. Also had a window sticker made up for display purposes, another attention getter for car. USA bidders only, I'm not dealing with out of country shipping or those fine Canadian customs. Not open to trades. I am not playing the "Whats your Bottom Dollar Price" game, so quick flippers need not show interest. This car needs to be looked at in person and driven before bidding. It is not a show car and I wouldn't go stop light racing with it either. Check with your girlfriend, wife, mother, or banker before bidding. I am only open to cash offers if you come in person to look and drive car. On Oct-07-14 at 07:33:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Adding a few more notes on car and some recent questions; The floor where the drivers feet are is in great condition, a little surface scale with paint missing on top below carpeting, but absolutely no rust out on drivers floor or near gas pedal. The opposite side of trunk extension and torsion bar frame match the side of the ones pictured. It is original, not touched up with black paint or aerosol can undercoating. The fender bird decals have been replaced(not by me), they are just to new and clean looking to be originals. It is the original body tag, someone got a little too zealous trying to remove some surface rust, so some numbers are hard to read, but when you flip it over all numbers and letters are clearly legible. The vin tag is excellent, no scratches or fading, and has original black background and the 'CHRYSLER CORPORATION' and pentastar logos are excellent. 8 digit matching vin number clearly visible on radiator shroud support. Did not pull up trunk seal to locate number on drip rail. No damage or speaker cuts in rear package shelf. No cracks in armrest pads. No cracks in headrests, but the chrome film or tape is shot on bands. No cracks or tears in visors. No cracks in lower dash pieces, but small under steering column plastic trim missing. Dash pad frame under windshield still black with no rust in lower outside corners. All headlights, taillights, park lamps, and turn signals work. Checked instrument lamps and not working, panel dimmer roller feels a little rough, most likely culprit. radio light did work as well as dome light. Car sits properly with no helper springs or shackle extensions. On Oct-10-14 at 10:52:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Replaced dimmer switch and all lights work on instrument panel, as well as radio and heater panel lights. Additional info: Key in ignition when door opens buzzer works. Heater and defrost works, all 3 fan speeds work. All 4 side marker lights work. All seat belts good condition with original date tags. Doors close with a gentle push, they do not have to be slammed. Defrost vents not cracked or brittle. Hood trim excellent, no dings. The two cast chrome side fender 'C' moldings are fair to good. In July I had an alignment done with no issues with steering components. Also did an oil and filter with 30W Valvoline, 1 quart Lucas oil additive, and 11 oz. Rislone oil supplement with zinc and phosphorus. Dug through my nos stash and found an original wire set dated 2-72, they look good and original. Correction on body tag code from above; The TX9 is the door frame color, code H2X9 on the tag describes the interior as black with silver trim bench vinyl. Ask all questions before bidding. WINNING BIDDER can verify numbers matching at pick-up by either looking at them with the car on my lift or I have pictures of them. If you are sending a shipper I hope you trust him with cash, because I am not taking any checks or money orders.
