Vehicle Detail
Ive decided to part ways with my Camaro. I'd rather keep it as I know I won't get another one this solid but the time has come to purchase a house and this will tie up some stuff I need to. The car is being offered with NO RESERVE. If the initial bid is in your price range you could win it. This car is one of only 3,203 Z28 convertibles build in 1991. It is a genuine factory ASC convertible. It is not a dealer conversion or aftermarket conversion. The engine is the 305ci 5.0L V8 with the automatic transmission. The car currently has 95,xxx miles on it. Mechanically the car is strong. It runs great and starts every time. I would drive this car anywhere. AC Delco parts have been used for almost all maintenance done. The Valve seals, fuel sending unit, and fuel pump have less than 200 miles on them. It even has AC Delco shocks on it. This car is VERY original. It does have two minor leaks. The first one is either the front of the oil pan or timing cover. The area is damp. The leak is not enough to consume oil or even drip to the ground. The second leak is from the transmission. It will leak a small damp area under the car after running. I believe it is the O-ring around the VSS sensor. The Air conditioning system is believed to be operational but needs to be charged. A major plus is it is still R12. It has not been degraded and converted to R134A The body is in good shape. It has 2 minor dents in the passenger side front fender around the wheel arch (pictured). To be a show car the car would need a paint job. There is no rust but the paint is the original 1991 paint and looks like it. I believe the paint is the only thing stopping this from entering and winning shows. The engine bay is quite clean and original (pictured) the top is in good shape. Slight clouding on the window but top is in good shape. No rips or tears. The plastic body parts (front bumper, convertible fender caps, spoiler, etc) exhibit the normal cracking a 1991 would. The front turn signal lights are relatively new along with the emblems The interior is AMAZING. I have restored 90% of the interior to like new condition. The carpet is brand new, the console is new, the radio bezel is new. The seats are in great shape but the rears do have some fade along the top edge (pictured) The only parts not restored is the rear side panels and seat belts. The could be re-covered to be a show winner but still look great as-is. Car is equipped with pioneer CD player and speakers all around. Originally it was equipped with a factory CD player so if you wanted to source one and install it it would be correct and kind of rare. The two biggest flaws with the car is the weather stripping around the top. It needs to be replaced. It looks alright but leaks. The rear bow seal is new but the rest needs to be replaced. I keep it in a garage and it hasnt seen rain or snow in two years so it was not an issue for me. The second flaw is it needs a gauge cluster. They are known to be finicky in these cars. The speedometer is erratic and just recently the odeometer stopped counting. You can tell by condition and history reports I am honest with the mileage. The odometer died last fall on a day I took it to work 14 miles away. It was fall so I parked it for the year after that. This year I was swapping the interior so I barely drove it. Over the past few weeks I took it to my inlaws twice about a mile away. I didn't plan on selling and I wanted accurate miles so until I got it fixed I didn't want to rack up miles. If the bidding passes $4,000 I will replace the cluster with a used one. I cannot garauntee the miles shown on the replacement will be accurate, but it will be operational. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping. I will ship the car at your expense under two conditions 1) You personally inspect the car prior or 2) You sign a waiver of condition. I have done my best to describe the car in words and pictures and want to avoid the drama of the car arriving different than you expected. The car is also available locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
