For bid 1997 p 30 step van union city body co aluminum body. I bought this truck in 06 with 141k mi. I used it for my personal use over the road travel from IL to NC CA FL and points in between for 61k mi.. It now has 203k. It's very dependable. It has been to and from FL. to WI in the past 8 months no problem. Runs and drives very good. It has been well maintained, oil changed and greased regularly, radiator flushed and new antifreeze added, all old brake fluid flushed and replaced new, has been painted, new/rebuilt transmission, batteries, front tires, starter, frt. brake calipers and pads, rear brake cyl.and shoes, all lights work, and allmost all electrical connectors have been seperated, inspected, and coated with dielectric grease. I have kept this truck up and it has served me very well. No hacking of wiring or mechanics all work performed has been proffesionally done this is a very solid well intacted vehicle, the underside looks as it should exhaust all wiring and brake lines are exactly where the factory put them. There is some minor seepage around the engine pan and transmission pan gasket no leaks or wetness at wheels or rear end. I'm still driving today! Class 4 hitch, 7 wire trailer plug with electric brake wiring in place, plug is dinged up but useable. It's definately worth the time to look at it. I'm going to take a beating because of the two issues I've listed below I don't believe these are major issues and that a person who knows what they're doing can actually make a profit. I want to be up front and honest as to what this truck will need. When I bought this truck the plug at the anti lock brake assy. was disconnected I didn't discover this for about six months when I found it, so esentially I've been driving it with the light on since I've had it. I don't recommend anyone do this! But I can honestly say I haven't had any brake issues. I did have one panic stop situation and I could feel the anti lock brakes pulsating but it happened so quick I couldn't tell if they were all working. One thing I need to mention is that when you first apply the brakes it wants to pull right just for a second then stops straight no problem, I've gotten so use to it I don't notice it anymore. Other then that it has a good high firm peddle and stops. The other thing I need to mention is the engine will smoke at certain speeds this has happened before some time ago maybe a year and a half but it cleared up, and didn't see any smoke. This time I drove from Tampa to Milwaukee and I started seeing smoke again, but not constant, so Im don't see this as a major engine issue if it was it would smoke all the time. Here's how it goes at start up it allways puffs out a plume of light blue smoke but this is normal after about 15 seconds it idles fine No smoke. It takes awhile for the engine to warm up to operating temp so I expect to see a puff of smoke till it warms up. I was hoping it would clear like last time but it hasn't. It doesn't smoke at low speeds or after it kicks into over drive, but will smoke before it goes into over drive around 45- 50 mph when your just feathering the accelerator to maintain speed. I've replaced the air filter which wasn't that bad, replaced a hose from the rs valve cover to the air cleaner which was alittle soft thought it might be colapsing, and will replace the fuel filter which was replaced not that long ago. Tires; Front tires are good, front end good rolls straight stops straight. I bought 4 used tires for the rears I thought they where good had very good thread but developed dry rot in between threads I've replaced the 2 left side rears one new, and one used, but the two right side tires need to be replaced. Now that all being said if I replace the two right side tires I wouldn't have any issue driving this truck back down to FL. it's just had an oil change and grease. One last thing, I've allways liked the fact of having an aluminum body, because your never left with nothing, you'll allways have about 2600 lbs of aluminum to scrap which depending on the market will leave you with about $2000.
