Vehicle Detail
For sale here is a very nice 1959 Ford Skyliner Retractable Hardtop. These were and are a true automotive marvel. The top works well on this Inca Gold and White '59 and is a real treat to watch. The car has a very nice solid body and the paint is not new, but is shiney and shows nicely. The bumpers have been rechromed and look awesome. The stainless is in great shape as well. All of the glass is nice except a slight crack in the passenger's vent window. The underside is solid and has the normal surface rust in some places. I found 1 body mount that may need replaced, but overall the underside is very good. I have underneath photos available. The trunk area is in great original shape with the original gray checkered lining and nice luggage tub. The interior is all original and in excellent condition. The plastic covers are still on the seats. The headliner is nice. Great door panles. Very nice dash with clear guages and a nice steering wheel. Nice package shelf and rear seat side panels. The dome works and all the windows work well. The doors line up well and have clean bottom edges. The door sills are new and the rockers, hinges and jams are great. In the dash, the following work: turn signal green arrows, high beams, hradlights, speedometer and odometer, temp ga., horn, heater and defroster with 2-speed blower fan, cigarette lighter, and the radio works great! The clock and fuel ga are not currently working. The ribbed trim behind the rear wheels is in great shape as well. The car does run and drive well. The brakes seem to have a little bit of a hard pedal and the muffler is not totally quiet. The 352 V-8 starts right up and gas plenty of power. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by the previous owner about 8 years ago. The car rides smoothly and comfortably. The tires look nice and are roadworthy. Nice correct hubcaps. A turn signal switch will be needed as the rear passenger's side taillight does not blink and the brake lights don't work. Both taillights do light up nicely when the headlights are on. The taillight lenses are in nice shape and so are the headlights and other lenses. My mechanic installed a carb kit 1 month ago and the carb may need slight adjustment. This is really a great car. Nice body, top works, great chrome, and beautiful original interior! A 1959 Skyliner Retractable is a very impressive car, especially showing off when you put the top down or up. Please feel free to ask questions. Sold in as-is condition and inspection is available.
