Vehicle Detail

1954 Chevy 5-Window Pickup 'Daisy Green' Loaded with Options This is a beautiful 1954 Chevrolet 3100 half-ton pickup that recently completed a lengthy frame-off rebuild. The frame and body were media-blasted and primered before being painted 'daisy' gold and medium dark green. It retains its original, easy-to-start 235-cubic inch straight six motor and a three-speed column-mount manual transmission. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly and quietly. It shifts gears easily. The 6-volt electrical system was re-done and fog lamps, turn signals and spotlight installed. The radiator was cleaned, sealed and pressure-tested. The starter, voltage regulator, water pump, wheel cylinders and the Rochester carburetor were either rebuilt or replaced with new. New brakes were installed. Everythiing on this hardy half-ton works. This truck is crammed with options: • A stainless steel windshield surround and exterior door window stainless trim • An original 50s' era working GM-inscripted chrome spotlight • An original still-gleaming chrome grill • A 3-row Chrome Grill Guard • New chrome fog lights • New oak wood bed floor with matching side rails • Beautiful wide whitewall 6.50x16 tires • Stainless hubcaps and wheel trim rings • Covered outside bed-mounted spare tire carrier • Chrome tail lights • A set of reproduction dealer-optioned running board step plates • Electric wiper motor and new windshield wipers • Professionally rebuilt and refaced speedometer and gauge cluster • A rebuilt working original radio • A comfortable, freshly reupholstered bench seat; and color-coordinated seat belts • Full period-correct carpeting with bound edging and matching mat and new headliner • Column-mounted turn signals with hazard option "Daisy" is named in tribute to the wife of its original owner, who purchased it new, off-the-lot, in late 1954 for use on the couple's farm. After the death of Mr. Green in 2004, the truck remained with his widow, Daisy, who kept their beloved pickup serviced and operating in memory of her husband, a Korean War veteran. The truck was converted from a standard three-window cab to the more desirable deluxe five-window long wished-for by Mrs. Green, and further improved with the addition of a lengthy list of optional equipment. Its basically rust-free body was painted in Mrs. Green's favorite colors -- daisy gold and dark green -- that match the color of the sweet corn crops that were grown on the Greens' farm for more than 50 years. This truck runs, stops, and drives properly and looks great. It was always treated well and was meticulously well-maintained. All lights function properly, included the fog lights, amber turn signals and spotlight, daash lights and the chrome cab light assembly. In further tribute to both Mrs. Green and to all admirers of Chevrolet's 'Advanced Design' pickup trucks from 1947 to early 1955, the seller will ensure the The Buy-It-Now Buyer will receive: • Mr. Green's Highway Safety Reflector Kit, stored for more than five decades under the seat. Service and mechanical rebuild of the truck were accomplished by professional automotive mechanics with a combined 85 years of experience. There are minor paint imperfections; it is not a Show Truck but looks like one, and is an eye-catching, driver loaded with improvements and appeal. It should win its lucky new owner awards at many Car Shows. Should this auction end without a Buy-It-Now bid, the winning bidder will be given the opportunity to bid on the Buy-It-Now package of items.
