1965 Mustang K-CODE289 4-Speed Manual Transmission Up for auction is a 1965 Mustang K-code coupe project, equipped with a rebuilt 289 and manual 4 speed transmission. Presented in an un-restored driver quality condition with all exterior lights in working order. This car starts right up, and shifts through all gears smoothly. The 4-wheel drum brakes stop the car well. It has a clean title. This classic can be restored with a bit of elbow grease to be a true beauty once again. Interior: Interior condition is driver quality, with a great overall appearance but could use a restoration, front seats are in great shape with high back seats and head rests adding a bit of comfort and a real race car feel, rear bench seat is in need of new upholstery, with a tear present on the bottom half. No headliner, needs new dash pad, radio is there but not installed, dash has been cut out roughly for the stereo to fit. Exterior: Exterior body work is needed on all panels in some aspect or another, the car when purchased was flat black but was factory painted red. With a professionals touch this K code can be restored to its original glory putting some attention to detail in the needed areas. The driver side door has a dent that someone poorly attempted to repair (replacement door will be included), Rear driver side quarter panel appears to have had minor rust at the bottom behind drivers side wheel, but again a poor attempt at a repair is present (original not aftermarket drivers side quarter panel is included). The car was purchased from a guy in town who knew the value of the K-Code Mustang, but poorly executed his repairs. I purchased the vehicle in hopes of restoring the car myself but things have come up and I cannot find the time to restore this classic, and would like to see it go to someone who can really make it shine. Undercarriage: The frame rails beneath both front shock towers are solid with no rust present; the floor-pans have been unprofessionally repaired by the same individual who attempted the body work. They are holding together and solid, but could use a professional’s touch. The floor pan frame rail support/extension has sustained damage from improper floor jack procedures but again is solid needing a professionals touch. Trunk area is rust free and solid. Overall this car is undeniably a great driver worthy of restoration, with a great base being that it’s a rare K-code. I’m available to answer any further questions that you may have. I have no documentation on the rebuilt status of the engine, I was told it was rebuilt by a reputable local engine shop, but again I have no documents to prove this. All glass is intact with no cracks, windows roll up and down smooth, drip rails are solid, I have all the emblems as well, which will be sent of with the car. Besides the previous rust repair, I do not see any rust anywhere.
