Vehicle Detail
If you are researching this car you already made the first smart move even if you don't buy mine, get yourself one of these. I purchased this same car for my daughter to learn with and she kept hers and is out of the house and earning her keep. My son is going off to school in the north and I believe with the rust it already has, this should stay a southern car. Also, he isn't going to use it and at this age the car needs to be driven regularly. It was the perfect car for your teen to learn with. In this 1999 they released the side curtain air bags and full frontal bags and that's why I have bought them. I would not knock honda, but for the price these benzes can't be beat. I always would say my kid against a honda on a full collision will likely walk away. Its a big car and a sturdy car. Also, being diesel you have two advantages for teenagers, no racing or gunning it AND they get the same mileage as an old Honda (about 26 combination is what this one was doing with mostly city type driving in suburbia where we live). Here is the great news: Mechanically she is perfect. In order to sell it I just spent over $3,000 at the dealer as follows (all receipts available):1. Glow plug services including new head gasket all new plugs & fuel lines.2. Radiator replacement3. Air Bag SRS service (sensors checked, seat sensor replaced in passenger seat) making this safe to sell and mercedes certified4. New Brakes and tires5. A/C service was last year and as a result its nice and cool in our 90+ degree heat6. Full synthetic oil change yesterday (I kept up with this at every 5k miles)7. Bulb service (mostly new bulbs where we needed them). Additionally the car has the following features:1. we installed tinting (warrantied for life high end UV protectant) when we first got it over two years ago. This keeps it cooler and protects the leather.2. we installed a high end system including bluetooth phone and sirius satellite. The system really cranks as my son liked his tunes (and so did his dad).3. sunroof4. heated seats5. Two working electronic keys (I bought an extra at the dealer for $200 last year) So, you need nothing to invest in other then the following defects for your consideration:1. Both front fenders show rust at the edges. I wanted to work on replacing them with my son (cost would have been about 200 per fender) but we never got around to it. You take the front bumper off with 2 bolts and then allegedly the fender is an easy removal. 2. His first event was backing up and hitting something. As you can see the rear bumper is banged up though not terrible cosmetically. You may wish to get this replaced or just live with it. Replacement would be over $1,500. 3. Right rear has a surface paint scrape that needs a good buffing. Its on the plastic molding so it should buff off with elbow grease. Its too hot here for me to give that a go. 4. above the fuel door are some scratches in the paint. Not sure when they came, my son thinks someone keyed him. 5. Rear fenders and wheel wells are rusted too. most are surviving just fine here in the south with the rough paint we did. But, you may wish to invest time to address. 6. I hate the headlamps. they are suffering from frost. you may be happy with them, but I wanted to change them out. its about 300 a pop on that. 7. the left side mirror is no longer working. As a result it was adjusted for use and electrical taped in place as you can see in the photo. More photos available as you like. Finally, delivery terms. 1. I will need a $500 paypal deposit when the auction ends.2. I have bought and sold a lot of cars on ebay for family, friends and myself over the last 15 years. I am not a dealer but I do have lots of experience. We even bought a car in california and had it shipped to bama for $700 flat fee. I am happy to speak with you about this and quite flexible on the delivery process. I offer the next couple of ideas for you to ponder...3. I am able to drive this to you if you would like up to 1,000 miles from home. This will require an extra $100 for my time, plus the reimbursement of fuel and McDonalds on the highway drive to you. I can find my way home as long as you can drop me at a local airport and I have lots of flyer miles to use so that part is no extra.4. we live near huntsvillle ala airport as well as 90 minutes from Birmingham or Nashville airports if you would like to pick up the car yourself (southwest is usually the best option and they only do nashville or bham). We would bring the car, meet you off the plane, give you the title and the car on receipt of the cashiers check or cash.
