Here is a chance to buy a very hard to Find VW Thing. This car was a " Cottage Car" in a very small resort town north of here. The owner is now well into his eighties and has decided to sell his cottage and the Thing. He only drove the car in the summers to run into town and go to the lake shore. He had owned the car since 1986 !! Im thinking it was only driven appx 600 miles a summer. Odometer shows 30, 400 miles. The car had some restoration work done to it a few years ago. It was completely repainted,( it was orange) Seats were all redone. New tie rod ends and front end parts. New battery. New front brakes. And a Brand new top and side curtains. this was over $ 5,000.00 worth of work. This was done some years ago, but few miles ago. Does have some chips in the paint. It has the optional gas heater under the front hood. The car drives great. shifts nice, no bearing noise. steers great. Motor runs great. Smokes some, but a lot of these motors seem to do that. I pulled the plugs and they are burning clean. Has a aftermarket exhaust system that sounds good. The floor pan is in nice shape, All original except one spot that was replaced under the rear seat. This car hands down brings more attention then any car I have ever owned, People, all people, love it. They were only imported into the US for two years, 1973 and 1974. Nice ones are hard to come by.
