Vehicle Detail

Hello to all ebayers,..... ******ATTENTION!!!!******For an EXTENSIVE COLLECTION of CURRENT PICTURES ((200+))!!!!!, PLEASE CLICK on the PURPLE link below****** http://mail.tidewater.net/~kitti/ParkwoodSW/ PLEASE READ..... .....up for your consideration and/ or bid is yet another old classic out of my 30 year+ collection. This one being a 1961 Chevrolet BelAir Parkwood 4 door/ 6 Passenger station wagon! It is NOT an Impala as ebay listed it with their automated computer process. These old station wagons of the late '50's to early '60's have become VERY RARE and quite unusual to come by in late years! These old wagons were heavily crushed by scrap yards in the '60's-'80's sadly,...saying nothing about them being used as demolition derby cars,...seeing they were built like a Sherman tank!!! This old station wagon remains ALL ORIGINAL,...((OR AT LEAST 98-99%))!!! The wide white wall tires are long gone, the original battery too of course, the old "opticlear" windshield re-fill glass bottle that supposed to be under the hood is missing, and lastly the front drivers side under-the-bumper tin...but that's it!!!. Like everything in my collection, the Parkwood S/W is currently not a "turn-key-driver" and will need some work. I purchased the Parkwood in 2006 just for the good engine that was free-spinning at the time,...8 years later I think the original 283 might be stuck, as I can not turn it over by hand. I never tried with a battery to crank it over,...the S/W did not come with a set of keys when I purchased it. The Parkwood is truly an amazing original survivor with the original #s matching 283 V-8 and 2 speed cast-iron Power-Glide that has 70,820 original miles with the motor and transmission never being out of the S/W and never being re-built!!! The transmission could even be the RARE (at the time) 3 speed Turbo-Glide. I even have the ORIGINAL SALES PURCHASE ORDER/ AGREEMENT dated 2/11/61 showing the base price plus all options and the grand total selling price of $3,640.90!!! Under the hood the '61 Wagon retains everything original,...the 283 as I said, the generator, air cleaner housing (and decal!!!), battery box that is excellent and original radiator that is excellent too!! The S/W also retains ALL the original glass with NO CRACKS OR BREAKS, the windshield is an awesome survivor with just a small "fog" spot at the very bottom, (passenger side). As near as I can tell,...the Parkwood has been off the road an astounding 40+ years!!! I found an old vintage inspection sticker in the glove compartment that matches up to the last sticker on the windshield and it reads May '71 / '72!!! The interior is amazing, even the carpet with built in floor mats is original along with the 2 rear cargo area rubber mats,...(("upper" and "lower")).....please see ALL the photos...just click on the link!! ALL the door panels are original and in place,...they're showing a little age and wear,...but not bad at 53 years old, also still has all the original plastic pull/push door locks knobs!!! ALL doors open and close like a "breeze",...like NEW in fact!,...even the rear tailgate that tips down,.....(does not pivot left or right like later years) works FANTASTIC!!! The REAR GLASS WINDOW is operated ((far as going up and down)) by "human elbow-grease" from the exterior by a chrome medallion that converts to a crank handle in 1 second!! You won't need much "elbow-grease",...the huge heavy rear glass cranks up and down LIKE NEW,.....just AMAZING engineering and AUTOMOTIVE FABRICATION that still works LIKE NEW 53 YEARS later!!!!!! The S/W also retains ALL the original interior.....steering wheel, glove box, seats and seat fabric!!! The S/W even still retains the original HEAVY DUTY steel STATION WAGON rims that have the 4 "nubs" that hold the hubcaps on from flying off!!! If you've ever installed '57-'61 hubcaps on later year rims only to see them go rolling down the highway beside you, you know what I'm talking about!!! The S/W sheet metal ALL the way around is very good far as no dents or collisions. There are some rust issues, but the few it has are obvious and nothing hidden like with body filler,...the only body filler I've found is in the lower section of the drivers side rear quarter. The passenger rear quarter being excellent exterior wise,.....the spare tire-floor (very bottom) is missing that is built-in to the interior of the passenger rear quarter. The S/W even still retains the original HEAVY DUTY STATION WAGON SPARE, along with the original bumper jack, jack base, jack handle and jacking instructions!!! The wagon also sports the optional extra cost passenger rear view mirror that all vehicles today have standard,...but optional in the old days of simpler times. Both front fenders suffer from the most rust damage on top, near and around the headlight assembly,...which was typical of ALL northeast cars/ trucks of this era due to manufactures not installing fender liners. Salt, dirt and debris would settle in low "pocket-spots" of the fenders FOR LIFE and go no where, just rusting/ corroding 24/7/365!!! The frame is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT from literally bumper to bumper and built like a heavy duty bridge girder!!! The floor boards are excellent retaining the original $35.00/ extra-cost body under coating listed on the purchase order agreement. The floor braces are excellent where undercoated, but rusted some where they attach to the rockers,...due to being missed with the undercoating spray, but still very restore-able! Also still all original and FULLY FUNCTIONAL is the rear folding seat that tips down in one second flat and convert the S/W into a "panel-delivery-of-sorts" with just under 8 feet of interior length with the tailgate in the upright position,...OR nearly 10 lineal feet with the tailgate in the down position!!! Not finished yet!,...under the black cargo mat in the rear of the S/W you will see a small recessed handle that can be lifted for access to a hidden compartment under the floor!! Better yet,...when that rear hidden compartment door is lifted and laid forward on the floor,...it can be lifted yet again and opens up a huge "grand-canyon" storage space under the S/W floor!!!!!.....just AMAZING engineering for the time!!.....BE SURE TO SEE ALL THE PICTURES,...just click on the PURPLE CLICK-ABLE LINK at the beginning of this full length description. ONE LAST THING, (I think:-).....even the aluminum center-bumper-pieces that hold/ display the number plates ((front and rear)) are in excellent, straight condition!!.....these were notorious for getting dented, bent and just plain "trashed" due to being soft, vulnerable aluminum!!! Take notice of how amazingly straight the original grille is too ((more aluminum)), no bends, breaks or corrosion!.....even still has 2 of the 4 original T-3 headlights. Lastly the Parkwood is all original right down to the RARE Parkwood/ BelAir "dog-dish" hubcaps which are very hard to come by in ORIGINAL NON-REPRODUCTION form!!! Overall the Parkwood is an excellent candidate for restoring and will make a very interesting unique classic to take to the car show for sure, starting at a very reasonable starting price for a '61 Chevrolet Parkwood. The opening bid is set at a bargain price,...there are hubcap sets priced more expensive that the start bid,...just look at item # 390904668888!!! I've stated all that I know about this Parkwood as factual as possible. Due to the age and amount of sitting for years, this Parkwood does not come with any guarantees or warranties expressed or implied and is sold as is where is. For the winning bidder I offer FREE delivery BUT only if you are local and/or up to only 20 miles away. If you are 21-100 miles from the Parkwood I offer delivery for a fee of $1.00 per mile. I do not offer any delivery options over 100 miles and I certainly do not offer any long haul options from state to state either. Any winning bidder that is in the "over 100 mile category" it is up to you to make shipping arrangements and of course all transportation and shipping costs are the expense of you...(the winning high bidder). At my discretion, I may extend the free delivery from 21-100 miles if the Parkwood reaches a dollar amount I deem acceptable. Should you use your own trailer/equipment to pickup the Parkwood,...I offer FREE loading assistance to you with my Rollback and equipment,...or I'll assist the carrier of your choice (should you hire one),...also FREE of charge. PLEASE NOTE;...the state of Maine does not/will not issue a title for ANY automobile/vehicle of 1995 and prior. I do not have a title and the Parkwood comes with a bill-of-sale as ownership. ADDITIONAL NOTE;...some states will not accept a bill-of-sale as ownership of a vehicle,...please check with your individual state. FOR THOSE PERSPECTIVE BIDDERS THAT FIT INTO THIS LAST CATEGORY,...please let me know and I can contact the state of Maine and they will issue a legal document called (("Letter of Verification" @ 1 (207) 624-9000)) so that you can take this paperwork to YOUR state DMV you reside in and YOUR STATE will issue you a new title in your state. I've done this may of times before and to my knowledge this is the only perfectly legal way for bidders from title-demanding states to get a title for a vehicle from a non-title issuing state. I believe the pictures speak for them self, and what doesn't I've included in the description,........if you feel I have missed anything or you have any questions what so ever, please feel free to send me an email and I'll answer the question(s) asap. Upon the completion of the auction I ask that the winning bidder to commit to the transaction with payment in the form of a $200.00 deposit within 48 hours. I also ask that the high bidder follow-up with full payment in 7 days, or contact me for additional time if needed. If you have no intent of following threw with the complete payment of the auction item, please just don't bid and waste everyone's time playing games,...any non paying bidders will be reported to both ebay and all 3 major credit reporting agency's. As always,...UNDERCARRIAGE PICTURES ARE ALWAYS posted for perspective bidders/ buyers!!! ********KEEP WATCH,...a lot of interesting older ANTIQUE/CLASSIC AUTOS (1950-1985) coming in the next several weeks/months,...ALL of which will start with a modest starting price with NO HIDDEN RESERVE!!!******** .....thanks for looking, Bob.. On Aug-12-14 at 23:27:46 PDT, seller added the following information: *****PLEASE CLICK ON THE CLICK-ABLE LINK AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DESCRIPTION FOR 200+ PICTURES!!!!!*****.....just ignore the color PURPLE reference...((that was a mistake on our part that can not be removed after the listing has started))........thank you for your interest and patients:-) On Aug-14-14 at 19:23:31 PDT, seller added the following information: *****HELLO EBAYERS*****.....It has been pointed out to me that I missed something very important in the description!..... I'm glad to say that the Parkwood Station wagon is 100% FREE-ROLLING ((and of course steering too)),...NOT ANY of the brakes are sticking!!! 2 of 4 were, but I got them freed-up because Transporters for the most part won't deal with froze/ locked up brakes!!!
