Vehicle Detail

Hello to all ebayers, PLEASE READ..... .....up for your consideration and/or bid is my 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 2 door Convertible! I'll list the "pros and cons" of the Convertible starting with a brief list of cons and finish the description with ALL the pros, but first let me say..... This Chevelle may only be a Malibu and NOT one of the ever popular SS models BUT, being a Convertible makes it semi-rare. ADDITIONALLY,...this Chevelle is a numbers matching 350 V-8 Convertible with the VERY RARE protecto plate AND accompanying authentic vintage paperwork!!!!! Okay,...the bad part is,....unfortunately the Chevelle Convertible currently is NOT a "turn-key-driver". Sorry, but you can't just show up and "drive-off-into-the-sunset":-( BUT,...with some work in the garage it could be a "driver" semi-shortly,.....or on the other hand a decent amount of time and money to be show quality, (your choice). Currently the Chevelle has no Brakes, I tried putting a "fair-amount" of pressure on the foot pedal and it won't budge. I didn't want to force it and bend something, so I left "well-enough-alone" and will leave it to the new owner. I think the Power Brake booster has seized from storage of 20 years,...yes far as driving goes, it was last driven in 1994,...only started periodically over the years in storage. Please look at all the pictures I posted,.....in-particular you'll see a photo of the engine block with the matching VIN# stamped into the block pad!!! This stamping was done light by GM which seems to be the norm for back then, but this was the VERY BEST photo I could get and I could not get a better photo,...I tried several attempts!!! I never took the time to decode the body tag,...mainly because I could not find a clear-cut-site for this purpose. After looking the Chevelle over quite thoroughly, I believe the Chevelle originally came through from the factory as a real pretty metallic blue as the evidence shows ((like Mariner Blue)), not the current red. NOTE the rear bumper "splash pan" tin ((under the bumper)) is original, mint and exceptionally straight,...one of the best originals I've ever seen! I've owed the Chevelle since 1994 and wanted to have it professionally restored,.....but 20 years later it's not going to happen and maybe the new owner will have the TIME and MONEY to make this "gem" a "prized jewel"! For 18 years it sat in dry storage until I removed it in 2012,...it's been sitting outside since then and I can see the elements slowly deteriorating it. So while it's still VERY RESTORE-ABLE and has a lot going for it,....it's time for a new home. When I purchased the Chevelle in '94, the lady said she was "up-dating" to a new car and "retiring" the old Chevelle....which she had used regularly until then,....NOTE the original 1994 Maine Inspection Sticker on the windshield ((Blue))! The Chevelle needs a Battery and a Battery Box,...the original is pretty much rusted-out. The Chevelle also needs some minor floor pan work,...please request more pictures to see. The passenger side rear floor pan has just started to go,...the drivers side front floor pan is in the worst shape and a medium sized cat could fit threw the hole. The rest of the floor boards/ pans are excellent rust-free. If interested, PLEASE REQUEST MORE PICTURES!!! NOTE;.....private sellers can only post 24 pictures on ebay,....ONLY DEALERS can post seemingly unlimited. I've included as many of and the most important pictures as possible,...don't hesitate to request additional pictures as I have A LOT that I just could not post ALL of them on ebay! Many detailed frame pictures showing how good it is,...with only 1 small hole the size of a pencil (diameter)!! I've started the Chevelle over the years and sometimes just turned the motor over by hand to keep from seizing. I last had it started the summer of 2012. I tried to start it 7/12/14 and it fired once and quit,.....I'm guessing it is something simple and most likely needs a tuneup, as I've never tuned it up in the 20 years I've owned it. The starter works perfectly and the 350 turns over freely with ease,...no problems with cranking over and sounds really good too! I tried the power convertible top and it works fine electrically,.....I do however feel all the pivoting joints/ connections could use a little lubrication and I think the hydraulic convertible system could use some additional fluid also. Until July of 2014,...the last time I tried and used the power convertible top was in 1994 having used it only twice, at that time it worked perfectly and effortlessly!!Overall the Chevelle is a very viable candidate for restoring and will make a nice "set-of-wheels" for someone. The tires are old and whether-checked and probably should be replaced too. If you noticed one of the pictures, you'll see a FULL SIZE spare that was the "norm" "back-in-the-day".....and comes with the Chevelle complete with a PLASTIC center cap and a NOS STAINLESS STEEL trim-ring. .....Why??.....I don't know,...but the center cap on the spare is PLASTIC,.....BUT ALL 4 of the ones on the Chevelle are probably original GM, as they are a VERY HEAVY casting in METAL!!!! The 5 trim rings are NOS I purchased just late last summer and installed 7/12/14. I've stated all that I know about this Chevelle as factual as possible. Due to the age and amount of sitting for years, this Chevelle does not come with any guarantees or warranties expressed or implied and is sold as is where is. For the winning bidder I offer FREE delivery BUT only if you are local and/or up to only 20 miles away. If you are 21-100 miles from the Chevelle I offer delivery for a fee of $1.00 per mile. I do not offer any delivery options over 100 miles and I certainly do not offer any long haul options from state to state either. Any winning bidder that is in the "over 100 mile category" it is up to you to make shipping arrangements and of course all transportation and shipping costs are the expense of you...(the winning high bidder). At my discretion, I may extend the free delivery from 21-100 miles if the Chevelle reaches a dollar amount I deem acceptable. Should you use your own trailer/equipment to pickup the Chevelle,...I offer FREE loading assistance to you with my Rollback and equipment,...or I'll assist the carrier of your choice (should you hire one),...also FREE of charge.PLEASE NOTE;...the state of Maine does not/will not issue a title for ANY automobile/vehicle of 1995 and prior. I do not have a title and the Chevelle comes with a bill-of-sale as ownership. ADDITIONAL NOTE;...some states will not accept a bill-of-sale as ownership of a vehicle,...please check with your individual state. FOR THOSE PERSPECTIVE BIDDERS THAT FIT INTO THIS LAST CATEGORY,...please let me know and I can contact the state of Maine and they will issue a legal document so that you can take this paperwork to YOUR state DMV you reside in and YOUR STATE will issue you a new title in your state. I've done this may of times before and to my knowledge this is the only perfectly legal way for bidders from title-demanding states to get a title for a vehicle from a non-title issuing state.I believe the pictures speak for them self, and what doesn't I've included in the description,........if you feel I have missed anything or you have any questions what so ever, please feel free to send me an email and I'll answer the question(s) asap. Upon the completion of the auction I ask that the winning bidder to commit to the transaction with payment in the form of a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours. I also ask that the high bidder follow-up with full payment in 7 days, or contact me for additional time if needed. If you have no intent of following threw with the complete payment of the auction item, please just don't bid and waste everyone's time playing games,...any non paying bidders will be reported to both ebay and all 3 major credit reporting agency's. As always,...UNDERCARRIAGE PICTURES are always posted for perspective bidders/ buyers!!! ********KEEP WATCH,...a lot of interesting older ANTIQUE/CLASSIC AUTOS (1949-1985) better shape than this coming in the next several weeks/months,...ALL of which will start with a modest starting price w/NO RESERVE!!!******** .....thanks for looking, Bob.. . .
