Vehicle Detail

I’m selling this car for the owner. His first car was a 77 Cutlass just like this one. He purchased it from the original owner and was restoring this Cutlass for car shows when he lost his job. He needs the money and regretfully needs to sell his toy. This is a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Midnight Black Special Edition. The paint was pretty faded when he bought it so he had a local restoration shop sand and paint the body earlier this year. It cost him over $4,000 for the black paint job with gold 442 stripes and the other work they did. They added all new weatherstrips plus the new Hurst Olds emblems. It was painted with the urethane base coat clear coat system. After the paint was cured it was wet sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper, then 2000, 3000, and finally 5000 grit sandpaper to get the orange peel out and get it slick. Once sanded it was buffed and polished out. The paint is so shiny you can shave in your reflection as you can see in the picture I took of the trunk lid. The paint and body would be considered to be in #2 + condition in an honest appraisal by a show judge. This car was never intended to be a trailer queen but a very nice weekend cruiser and show car. The interior is black, white, and gold and is in #3 condition. It could use new carpets and 2 or 3 of the plastic pieces that you can find on eBay. The engine runs good and the mechanicals seem to be fine. Turn the key for only 1 second and the engine fires right up. It starts and runs better than most late model cars and it sure draws a lot more attention. The tires look almost new. This is basically a very nice low mileage car that needs just a few more parts (probably abour $200) to complete the restoration. It’s worth far more than the $5,000 asking price. This car is also for sale locally so bid early or you might miss your chance. If you plan to wait till the last day of the auction this car might already be sold, it’s that nice. This Cutlass is in very good condition but because of the age it’s sold as is. The buyer must pay a $500 deposit within 24 hours and pay the balance due within 7 days. You can store this car for up to 60 days inside my garage out of the weather for free until you can arrange transportation or pick it up. Please do not ask me if you can send an extra $1000 for me to send to the shipper after I have cashed your check. You pay the shipper yourself. I ran out of battery power in my camera today and will try to post more pictures in a few days. Call me if you have any questions. Thanks
