For 1972 at the Paris Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled an all new Pininfarina designed 2+2 concept based off the existing 365GT C4 and 365GTB Daytona. The new car carried the familiar four cam V12 engine in the front and offered seating for 4 adults in a comfortable seating arrangement. For 1976, the model was replaced by the 400GT which was basically the same car with more improvements and the first production Ferrari to be fitted with an automatic gearbox. In 1979 the 400i was introduced replacing the carburetors and introducing the Bosch-K Jetronic fuel injection system. Top speed was 150mph and the new 400i was placed as one of the most capable and comfortable exclusive luxury GT cars of its time. With just 883 examples ever produced, this rare luxury GT car offered from one of the most exclusive and well known manufactures has become an instant and rare classic.
European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 1982 Ferrari 400i finished in Bianco Avus over Nero leather hides. This 400i left the Maranello production line in February of 1982 and was imported into the states by Trend Import Sales, INC. The car was sold new to its first owner in Las Angeles on May 5, 1982. The Ferrari spent life in the LA area until moving to Houston Texas with its 3rd owner in 2003. In 2007 the car then moved to Portland Oregon before coming to AZ earlier this year. This Ferrari has traveled a true and documented 26,195 miles from brand new with extensive service history and records dating back to 1982. This Ferrari has only ever seen the Ferrari dealership or a trained and certified Ferrari technician for all of its servicing and maintenance needs since new. The Bianco Avus paint is in excellent condition and appears to be mostly original from top to bottom. The car still has a beautiful paint finish and is free from any fade or issues (three or four tiny stone chips in the front nose, four tiny chips out of the drivers rocker, a couple tiny chips around the gas cap door and one small tiny imperfection on the back right passenger side quarter). There are no signs of any accident or prior damage to the car and there are no signs of any rust or corrosion any where on the car. The original 15” Ferrari Star sport wheels are unmarked and in excellent condition (tires are Michelin TRX with about 70%-80% tread life but are showing a little age). All of the original exterior glass is original factory glass and in excellent condition free from any damage or pitting and all of the exterior lights and trim pieces are all in excellent condition (the drivers side rear taillight has one tiny hairline crack). The original Nero hides are in excellent condition and other than very lite creasing on the driver and passenger seats the interior shows exceptionally well. The original carpets are in beautiful condition and are unmarked and free from any stains and the gorgeous original leather headliner is still intact and unmarked. All of the switchgear and gauges are in excellent condition and free from any damage. The leather dashboard is in beautiful condition and is free from any waving or peeling. All of the mechanicals on the car are in proper working order, all of the interior and exterior lights are working, all of the dash lights are operating, the AC, windows, mirrors, power headlights and power antenna are all functioning. The car starts right up and does not let off any smoke. It idles exceptionally well and accelerates beautifully and strong. The car shifts beautifully and smooth through all of the gears and is free from any grinding or slipping. The brakes have an excellent solid feel to them and do not show any fading. The steering is very tight and responsive and the suspension feels very tight and smooth and free from any noises. The beautiful sound of the 12 cylinder 4-cam engine is a subtle symphony of mechanical notes that reiterates, this is a high performance GT. This 400i comes with a very extensive file of service records and history dating back to 1982, and also includes Ferrari owners club membership paperwork, registration paperwork from the previous owners, smog certificates and its original Ferrari owners manual, dealer book and cruise control book with their original pouch. The original spare tire is also present with the car along with original Ferrari keys. This is an excellent and rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional Ferrari 400i finished in a beautiful color combination and is complete with history and provenance from new.
