Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I have owned this auto since 2002 and purchased it from a man who was selling it to settle his dad's estate. It had been sitting in a large steel building with a concrete floor where it shared space with farming equipment. The car had Ohio plates on it from 1970 which I believe was the last year it was driven. I towed it back to Virginia where I lived then and started collecting many difficulty items that would be needed to do a complete restoration on it. I also wanted to see if it would run so I removed the spark plugs and filled the cylinder with a 50/50 mixture of diesel fuel and automatic transmission fluid. I then let it sit for about two weeks. I then put a socket on the large nut on the crankshaft and the engine could be easily turned by hand. I did about twenty revolutions by hand to pump all of the oil mixture out and installed the old plugs. Changed oil and filter, disconnected the coil wire and turned engine with the starter to prime oil pump. Primed carburetor, connected coil and engine fired and ran fine. The car has no rust through in the floorboard or around the doors posts or tail gate. I did treat all the doors interiors and tail gate with Por 15 paint to prevent rust. This is about all I have done to it. Car runs and holds about 50 lbs of oil pressure at idle and transmission shifts as it should' Power steering works and so does the power tailgate window.( from dash switch & also key on tailgate) The car comes with a complete carpet set for front & rear seats also cargo area. The old carpet was removed to show floor boards so I just laid the new carpet in the front and rear seats so you could see the quality and color. It still needs to be fitted around the doors posts and secured with trim strips included. The carpet you see displayed below the tailgate is what needs to be installed in the cargo area. The A/C unit below dash is just setting there and not hooked up. The A/C compressor was put on engine just so I could include the correct brackets and pulleys. The crankshaft pulley, spacer and longer bolt will also be included. Also included will be the firewall grommets and firewall plate to make everything look original. Included with the A/C kit is also a NOS condenser for a 64 Daytona and heavy duty radiator for use with A/C. Shown with this equipment is also a NOS driver's side front fender apron to replace damaged unit caused by first owner when battery froze and split. The engine had antifreeze in it but no one thought about removing battery. The trim items like the Daytona & Wagonaire script, Studebaker hood ornament, parking lights, weather stripping for sliding panel and mounting clips, chrome corners for roof are all NOS. Also the tail lights which are in perfect condition are NOS. The front fenders, doors and panel under front bumper are for wagon. There was never any rear fenders made for the Wagonaire. There were just some patches made to be welded in but there were none of these available when Studebaker went out of business. I ordered 2 rear fenders for a 4 door and believe they could be made to fit. I could also include a NOS hood, front and rear bumpers if you want them and have enough space to transport them. The only car I will have when the wagon is gone will be an Avanti II with a 350 HO V8. None of the parts for Larks will fit the Avanti. I will be glad to include anything I can find between now and when wagon sells. Parts will be free if buyer wants them. Car needs rocker panels replaced. Complete brake overhaul (I have included master cylinder and complete brake lines and hoses). Exhaust system also needs replacing. Tires on car were purchased when I picked up car. Car has always been garaged and tires were not exposed to a great deal of ultra violet light. I towed it from VA to FL which was about 750 miles with no problems. I only showed one tire as all of them look the same and I only had 24 pictures I could use. The tire decision will have to be up to you. Car is to be paid for by bank transfer within five days and car cannot be picked up until all funds have been cleared. This usually takes about 7-10 days.
