Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is my 1983 Toyota Supra. This is an incredibly clean and 100% rust-free classic Japanese sports car. Exterior: The red paint on this car shines up and looks fabulous! Even though this car has high mileage, it doesn't show it anywhere. The car has always been kept in a garage its entire life, and has never been repainted or even been in a minor accident! There is is not one single dent or ding on the entire vehicle. (I did paint the top of the rear hatch due to sun fading.) The front end does have the usual super-small rock chips that are invisible 5 feet away. Truth is: this car has better paint than my 2008 and 2003 vehicles! Interior: The interior was completely re-done in 2012, including new padding under the very soft vinyl upholstery. The factory Recaro seats are amazingly comfortable and supportive. I am 6ft and fit great in the car. All new carpet and side panels re-covered at the same time. I also removed every panel in the car to sound-proof and "anti-rattle" the car. The Air conditioning was completely re-done, including replacement of all the o-rings and dryer, etc..The compressor oil was drained and swapped out with the proper oil and the entire system vacumned and recharged with R-134. It blows ice cold two years later. The car has automatic HVAC so you can set the temp. and it adjusts the fan speed and temp itself. All power windows, door locks, power moon roof, cruise control, etc. work as they should. The only thing not working on the car is the oil pressure and coolant temp guage. Mechanicals: The engine was swapped out with a 3.0 liter version called the 6MGE. This motor is very similar to the original but was only sold in cars in Japan. It has approx 40 more horsepower than the U.S. 1983 motors with a total around 200. At the same time I swapped the motor, I installed a new timing belt, head gasket, every single gasket and seal, water pump, etc...I also had the cylinder head completely re-built and some performance machine work done to the valves and head. Also, new camshafts, lifters, springs, and on and on. There is a $120 metal head gasket installed with ARP head studs torqued to 95 lbs or so. This motor runs tight and strong! I added a custom intake pipe and filter, and a OBX brand header installed with new factory exhaust bolts. A custom 2-1/2" exhaust system with a high flow cat and Magnaflow muffler out back. A Toyota factory clutch was installed at the same time. No expense was spared and the car feels great. There are zero leaks under the car. And it starts instantly every time. The radiator was professionally cleaned and checked. The list is endless Suspension: The car has been lowered about 1 inch a few months ago on new Eibach springs and new Tokico Blue struts and shocks. The Bf Goodrich tires have maybe 4K miles on them and look brand new still. The drive shaft and axles were replaced with Toyota parts approx. 5 or 6k miles ago. Basically, This Supra has been very well maintained and it shows! I even have the original window sticker and original optional stereo. All original parts swapped out such as factory air-intake box and factory springs, two factory service manuals, lots of spare parts, etc...will go with the car unless you dont want them. The black Rota wheels and tires (about 1200 miles on them) shown in some pictures are Not part of the auction. They are available separately at a big discount to the buyer of the car. Note: There are cracks in the dash, Its basically the only cosmetic flaw. The car does not pass emissions due to the EGR system disconnected. I will give the buyer the U.S. intake manifold with the egr parts included. Its a fairly easy swap if you need to pass smog. I just drove the Supra on a 1,100 mile round trip to California where the car was entered into a national Toyota show. It performed without a hiccup, and ran great even with the a/c on through the desert across Arizona and Southern California. So, you could certainly drive the car home, just be reminded that it is 30 yrs old and anything can happen. I am going to really miss this car, but I have to let it go because I just bought a new car and it wants to be parked in the garage where the Supra is now! Please call me (Jeff) 520-282-2357 if you are serious about the car and have questions.
