Vehicle Detail

THE CAR’S HISTORY: · August 1962 production, titled as 1963 in Georgia · Second owner purchased car from a friend of a friend in 1964, shipped to Japan during his Navy service 1966-1969, returned to Charleston, moved to Atlanta, stored on jack stands from 1978-2008, made road-worthy in 2008-2009, shipped to/from daughter’s house in Washington State, stored in South Carolina 2009-2013. · I purchased the car in 2013 and got it running and driving reliably, changing all fluids, turning over the engine by hand and replacing ignition components prior to using the starter the first time. Back injury has derailed my plans to do an in-depth restoration. · I am not a dealer, just an enthusiast. THE GOOD: · It’s like driving a puppy – everyone wants to chat you up in traffic, at the coffee shop, etc.· Numbers Matching (including engine, hood, doors, wheels, etc.)· Solid pan· Three owners including one family from 1964-2013· Both tops (black soft top, white hard top)· Tool kit, original owner’s manuals· Starts, shifts, stops, and turns like a daily driver· Unlike typical 190SL, these original pieces are in place:o Solex carbso Original Air cleaner (original element included in sale, modern filter in use)o Original fuel pump with priming levero Ignitiono Bosch headlight ring (driver side)o Bosch stamped wipers THE BAD: · Passenger heater removed (parts in box; heat exchanger leaks)· Glovebox clock stolen in Japan· Tach, speedo and water temp gauges inop.· Shocks worn, steering box sloppy· Typical front fender & passenger floorboard rust· Soft top was stored in closed position off the car and is inoperable due to fabric & plastic stiffening· Paint is not shiny, seats are rough – this is a scruffy driver· Engine blows a puff of blue smoke on startup and a hint of black smoke while running (I have not tried to lean out the Solexes) SALE TERMS Deposit within 24 hours; certified funds in my bank before releasing car for delivery (within 7 days of auction end); Buyer pays shipping cost; Subject to prior sale; buyers with negative or zero ratings must email Seller prior to bidding.
