Vehicle Detail
Hi and thanks for checking out my auction. Up for sale is a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula 5.0 305 V8. Car is very dependable, I drive it mostly everyday too and from work. I drive about 60 miles a day Monday through Friday. This car is NOT perfect, but is dependable. Ive had it a few years already and I think its time too pass the torch. As you can see from the pictures it does need body work. I have a brand new LH front fender for it and a rust free driver side door for it(which will be included with car), I also have a new RH interior door handle as well, its not installed yet. The current handle a spring or something broke. As far as cosmetic on the outside goes, the windshield is cracked( I work in an auto body parts store that sells glass, I can get one reasonable for you at an extra cost and may install too). There is a little paint missing on the front bumper, the left front fender there is rust where the door was rubbing on fender(i have new fender for it, just needs paint and install), the drivers door also has rust(from rubbing fender, i have a rust free door that is included). There is also a small dent on the left quarter panel that has started to rust by the left tailight, and the trunk lid has a little rust as well. Clear coat is wearing off the spoiler(spoiler would be easy to paint, its jet black). It also needs the floor pans patched, there rusty on both the rear floorpans. Now for some of the mechanical. When I first got the car, the coolant fan was wired to a toggle switch. I have wired in a new pigtail and brand new relay but fan does not engage. Could be a coolant temp sensor/switch. Car has never overheated on me. The last repair I did on car was replacing the strutts and idler arm(it cost about $667) I also replaced the belt tensioner assembly(old one the pulley locked up) and serpentine belt. When i first bought the car, i had it for about 6 months i think an the engine went on me. Had it towed to Snell Motors in Mankato, and they put in a used 305 V8 for about $3,500(labor, tax and all that what not). Since about early 2012 Ive been driving about 15,000 miles a year with it. So yes this car is dependable, I already have at least 30,000 highway miles on the current motor. I am unsure of the exact mileage, due to the odometer not working. I track my mileage by my cell phone that I drive. I have also replaced the water pump(did that myself), replaced the battery once. even replaced the exhaust from the cat back. The headlight connector pigtails should be replaced/repaired, you have to wiggle them sometimes for the headlight to come on. I didnt worry about it because I have an HID kit for it that just needs to be installed. I already installed the new headlight lenses(projector style as seen in pics). I do have original style if you want them. Either way, HID kit is going with car. Headlight motors are bad, you need to put them up manually. You can find them on ebay or advance auto parts, prices vary. Window motors should be replaced, I have new ones, one for each side. Just recently the window switch for driverside window fell apart. I can find one for you, or you can get one. If i find one, it'll cost extra. You can get them on ebay too. This car also has a VATS system(vehicle anti theft system), but its bypassed under the dash. I found out when i had to get a key made.It doesnt seem to effect it in any way. Its been bypassed, the whole time Ive owned it.
