Vehicle Detail
This is very rare 1947 Mercury 72M Flathead V8 Manual 3-speed transmission Enjoy it for years and then sell it for more than you paid **************** NADA places the retail value of this car at: $9,900 (car in poor condition) $34,000 (car in near perfect condition). **************** NO RESERVE ! No games. No low-ball opening bid with an overly-inflated reserve price. High bidder takes this car home. **************** Let’s start with minor problems, because there are no major ones: Front right side door glass has some little cracks (does not jeopardize operation). See photo. Left rear side door glass has a vertical crack on the inside pane of the laminate (does not jeopardize operation). See photo. Upholstery serviceable and fine for me, but it is 67-years old (just installed new seat covers). Rear main seal leak, like they all have. Gauge cluster is finicky (I’m including a replacement cluster). See photo. The car is road-ready and waiting for you to arrive at the cruise-in, the car show, or just head out on the highway with family or friends. THE GOOD STUFF: Good engine Good clutch Good transmission (3 on-the-tree) Good suspension with a smooth ride at all speeds Steers easily and tracks true Brakes straight Never overheats Nice tires with plenty of tread Rims have beauty rings Factory steering column lock (very cool) Great stainless steel body trim Suicide rear doors 4 vent windows Tons of legroom in rear Rear foot rests Lights and signals work fine Runs well Lots of fun and a real pleasure to drive IN THE PAST 2,000 MILES: Shiny new paint (Midnight Blue) New dual exhaust New tune-up (points, plugs, rotor, distributor cap, condenser, wires, etc) New coil New voltage regulator New choke cable New electric fuel pump New fuel pressure regulator New fuel filler hose New fuel filters New horn switch New front leaf springs New front shocks New rear air shocks (adjustable for ride height and comfort) New rebuild on carburetor New battery New brake lines New master cylinder All new wheel cylinders Repacked front bearings and installed new seals New HD turn signal switch New headlight switch New headlight dimmer switch New seat covers. I included two photos (all doors open) so you can see the original upholstery --- still serviceable. 24-page Operator’s Manual includedMercury sales brochure included Clear, lien-free, 1947 Mercury title in my name IN CLOSING: There’s nothing so sweet as the sound of a flathead V8 with dual exhaust This vehicle has always been maintained This is a no reserve auction Good luck!
