By the late 1960’s, Porsche worried that the flagship 911 was at its full potential and possibly faced extinction with new regulations in regards to rear engined cars. The 928 went through years of testing and developing and finally debuted at the 1977 Geneva Motor Show. The car went on sale later that year as a 1978 model year car and even though the car was critically acclaimed and was even awarded Car of the Year for 1977. The new 928 was a GT car that carried a front engine; water cooled 4.5 liter eight cylinder engine and managed to achieve 50/50 weight distribution. Many 928’s were equipped with the automatic transmission and only about 15%-20% were manuals. After different magazine publications tested the 928 and wrote about how incredibly capable and advanced the car is; sales started picking up. For 1983 model year Porsche introduced the 928S with a larger revised 4.7 liter engine and front and rear body spoilers. For 1985 North American model year the 928 was introduced with a 5.0 liter eight cylinder engine producing 4 valves per cylinder and 288hp. Porsche continued production of the 928 until model year 1995 with great success and an incredible following for the model. The 928 will go down in Porsche’s history and automotive history as one of the most advanced sports cars made.
European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 1985 Porsche 928S 5-speed Coupe’ finished in a gorgeous shade of Dunkel Blau (Dark Blue) over a beautiful shade of Cashmere leather with Dark Blue center console, steering wheel and dash top. This Porsche 928 left the Stuttgart production line in January of 1985 and was invoiced to Porsche North America. The car sold new to its first owner in Ontario Canada where it has resided ever since. This Porsche 928 has traveled only 61,595 miles (99,111 KM) from brand new and has only had two owners. The beautiful Dark Blue paint is in exceptional condition and appears to be original. The paint is free from any scratches, dents dings or scrapes and still retains a beautiful deep luster. The Cashmere leather interior is in outstanding condition and shows almost no wear. Aside from the drivers seat showing very light creasing on the bolster, the rest of the interior is very supple and still retains it’s beautiful Cashmere color free from any fading. The carpets are in excellent condition showing only light wear and very little staining on the drivers side. The center console, dash board and door panels are all in excellent shape with very little wear (aside from one hairline crack on the instrument pod and a little shrinkage starting around the defrost vent). All of the switchgear, steering wheel shifter and headliner are in great shape with very little wear visible (Driver A pillar around the VIN shows a little shrinkage in the blue leather). All of the glass appears to be original and is free from any pitting or cracking. This 928 has been beautifully maintained and starts right up and idles very smoothly. The car does not smoke or leak any fluids and accelerates with ease. The engine pulls very strong and has a very nice low powerful grunt. The transmission feels very smooth and shifts through all of the gears with ease and free from any slipping or grinding. The brakes feel excellent and are free from any grinding or fade. The suspension and steering feel extremely solid and with no unusual noises. All of the electronics are in proper working order including both power windows, mirrors, door locks, AC and heater, sunroof, power seats, wipers, headlights, taillights, brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, interior lights, dash lights and side marker lights are all working. The original Porsche wheels are in great shape and free from any major curb rash or markings. The tires are in goos shape with about 50% tread life left. This 928 comes with its original owners manual, warranty book, dealer brochure card and all of its original Porsche keys. Also included with the car is its original spare tire, jack and jack tools, cargo net and its original Porsche tool kit. This 928 has just been serviced and is completely free from any rust or corrosion. There are no signs of any prior damage anywhere on the car. A clean and clear carfax comes with the car and a clean title with Box A actual miles will also come with the car. This is an exceptional, low mileage and very rare 5-speed 928S model that has been beautifully maintained and well cared for since new.
