1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster. This is a 45 year old survivor, one of only 5,000 built in 1969, with a body that is rust free from the ground up, and has never been patched or molested in any way. This car has always been garaged and never driven in the winter time, and I think that is what saved the body, floors, trunk floor, and anything else that usually gets destroyed by rust. The car has had one repaint in the early 80's and that is it, but I must say that the paint job looks good at 10 foot but was less than professional. In the early 80's the owner at the time purchased another wrecked 1969 Datsun Roadster that was a used to race in SAAC events with a performance modified engine. That performance engine and 5-speed transmission were both bolted in this car. Previous owner stated that this car would cruise very comfortable at 130MPH on the open road. I do have the original engine and transmission that will be included with sale. This car has not been licensed or on the road since 1995, thus due to the long term storage the car is not currently running or road worthy. The engine will turn over and is not seized. The brakes do not work, and by the way the car has factory front disc brakes. The tires are brand new Michelin, but there were installed in the 80's also. The car has sat in the garage with the top down for several years so needless to say the top is now deformed and aged to the point the plastic back glass is brown and cracked. Also 4 of the 6 turnbuckles that holds the top to the rear deck are broken. All of the interior vinyl is showing it's age and needs to be repaired or replaced. The windshield has a BB hole and wiper marks, the wing glass and both door glasses are nice. In my opinion, the exterior trim is nice driver quality but not perfect. The front bumper is bent, but I do have a spare set of bumpers that are a little better. If you like Datsun Roadsters and are looking for an easy project, in my opinion you would be hard pressed to find another unrestored body as nice as this one. I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability, but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. Also if you would like to inspect this car in person prior to the end of the auction just let me know and arrangements will be made. The car will come with a good Missouri title. The buyer will be responsible for all transportation costs if required.
