Vehicle Detail
Up for your consideration is my 1988.5 Suzuki Samurai 4x4 SUV. This is very small SUV that will go just about anywhere a GOAT will go! I have personally rebuilt/refurbished it over the past 5 years. It currently has about 3000 miles on the rebuild. Building these trail rigs is a hobby of mine and since I've had this one the longest, and I'm planning another "build" ,this one has to go. This Samurai is purpose built and is capable of LEVEL 5 trails. It will hang with the jeeps all day long. I've been to ORV parks in IL, IN, and MO and this rig takes all they have to offer within reason of course. It will come with size 31 tires but does best off road with size 33s. NO RUBBING with either set. I've run 10x15 rims with 33" MT Baja's without a problem. Drive train: Engine- The engine is a rebuilt 1.3 bored .30 over. It has a mild cam and Doug Thorley stainless steel header. It is carburated by a Harley 44mm carb and a MySide2 custom intake. Serial number shown in pic. The head has been polished and ported with double springs and italian valves. A new crank and new pistons were also installed at time of rebuilt along with water pump, oil pump, etc. The entire engine was rebuilt and now has about 3K miles. Barely broken in. Also has an aluminum radiator, electric fan, and thermostat switch so you can adjust the water temp and when the fan turns on. It also has an engine block heater on it that plugs in overnight on those cold winter nights (hunting). Transmission: Stock 5speed Overdrive Transmission with Stage 3 Clutch to handle the extra horsepower from the engine. Custom made clutch linkage to remove the stock link that commonly breaks. (Original Transmission with new brass shift plate. 3K on clutch. Transfer Case : Rock Crawler transfer case. Forgot gear ratio but when combined with 4L and 4.56 gears it climbs like a goat. Shifts very smoothly. Only 3K on TC. Axles: Both the front and rear axles have been totally rebuilt with 4.56 ring and pinion gears, lockers front and rear. Heavy DUTY axle shafts, new bearings, and seals. Brakes: All replaced and rebuilt during the last 5 years. New rotors installed on front and new drums on rear. New pads all the way around. Power Steering: Upgraded with a 1.6 sidekick unit and it now turns easily Frame and body condition: This sammy has very minimal rust when compared to others I've seen. It is totally solid. Absolutely NO weak areas that need to be repaired. The only rust is on top of the fenders and a little behind the wheels. These spots were treated with rust converter, and painted. I didnt' care a lot about the body work in that area because I was either going to trim it for bigger tires or put fender flares on it. I put flares which covers the area in question. THe areas over the wheels that were treated are solid and painted but not smooth. Floorboards are all solid as well. Look closely at the photos. Ask questions if you have them. THis is no rust bucket believe me. I just want to make sure I dedicate a paragraph to this topic as it's an important one. I looked for a long time before I found a Sammy this solid to start my build from. No dents but a few dings....see pics. Paint: Paint is 5 years old and is still presentable but, it has some scratches here and there. Just the usual trail stuff found on any rig that is purpose built and used for it's purpose. Additional features/information: * BLACK Leather seats (heated and powered--compliments of Mercedes Benz. (no rips, tears, or worn areas. VERY comfortable. * Heavy Duty bumpers front and rear * EXO cage to protect the body metal from trail damage and to help protect occupants. It is NOT safety approved . It's designed to protect the vehicle body ONLY. However...it's made out of schedule #30 pipe...it's tough...can't bend with a sledge hammer. * AM/FM/CD player with 4 waterproof Speakers. AUX in port for MP3 Player. Sounds okay. * Newer Rampage top with tinted windows and re-moveable sides. This version converts to a Safari Top. * 31x10.5 Yokohama Geolander Tires (5 tires all about 90% tread remaining) * 10,000lb Winch with remote control and hand control cable. * Center Arm Rest lock box made out of an ammo canister (lockable) * Diamond plate door panels and cargo area panels. * Extra power outlet added for GPS. * Rear mounted plastic tool box for storage (lockable) * Aux Lighting ( 2 PIAA series 520 lights on windshield frame and 2 (1 on each side) for improved night vision on trails. Really helps side vision! * High intensity headlights (6000k) bluish/white* Rear AUX light. * Electric Fuel Pump * High capacity GM alternator upgrade. * Flowmaster muffler with silencer * Diamond Plate door panels * mechanical guages added for water temp, oil pressure, amps * Heavy Duty aluminum radiator added for extra cooler of high performance engine * Electric radiator thermostat added to adjust temperature of engine. * Stage 3 clutch added to handle extra power produced by the engine. * Postal style mirrows for use when doors are off. Fold out when needed to stay legal with doors off! * Set up for a Flat Tow bar so you can tow it to the trails. I tow it with a 4.0 Cherokee no problem. HITCH COMES FREE WITH BUY IT NOW OPTION, otherwise buyer will need to pay an extra 100.00 IF they want it. IMPORTANT NOTES: As mentioned previously, all work shown above, in addition to other work I'm sure I'm forgetting, has been completed over the last 5 years. The Samurai has only had about 3000 miles put on it since the rebuilt. These miles were driven around town and on the trails. It's not a daily driver. It's in very good shape and well protected by the EXO cage but, it does have some marks and scratches from trail use. This is not a mall crawler. This Samurai has been geared down for the trails. Because of this, it does not go fast enough for interstate highways. I do not recommend it for highway use. It does fine around town but shines off road. Top speed is about 55-60 without pushing it too hard due to high rpms associated with highway use. This item is for sale to people located within the lower 48 states only. I will not ship the Samurai but, I will make it available for pickup. Remember, you can tow it home if you choose! I towed it lots!. PLEASE check my feedback. I'm an honest 54 year old man that does his best to describe all items to the best of my abililty. I am not a business. I am an individual so my feedback is important to me. I've worked to earn 100% positive feedback on over 1000 personal transactions over the past 13 years. i've never received a complaint. I don't think you will be disappointed. NO warranty expressed or implied. All sales final. Down payment of 500.00 due immediately upon placing the winning bid. Ask all questions prior to bidding please and do not bid if you do not intent to follow through with purchase. On May-28-14 at 17:14:14 PDT, seller added the following information: * Clear title in hand * Buy it now also gets a tow hitch, half doors, car cover, green touch up paint, original rims and all weather tire with 95% of tread remaiing, front disk rotors for a rear disk brake conversion, and a well working stock transfer case with stock gearing. A buyer who doesn't use the "buy it now" option has the option to purchase for an additional cost if desired. Just talk to me after placing the winning bid! On May-28-14 at 19:36:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been thinking and decided to throw in the stock transfer case for the winner bidder regardless of whether you use buy it now or not. This allows the buyer to return to stock gearing on the transfer case and still run the 4.56 ring and pinions in the axles. This will give the buyer higher ratio to improve top end speed. You'd loose a little on the low end if you installed the stock transfer case however. It's always a trade-off. If you use it off road and in town, I'd leave the rock crawler transfer case in it. It you plan to run mostly around town and highway, I'd install the stock transfer case. I can do it by myself in about 1.5 hours. No big deal but it would be easier with a buddy. It's not that heavy.
