RELISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER - Please review the terms of the auction and ask any questions BEFORE placing your bid, thanks!Up for auction is this 1953 Ford F100 Deluxe half ton short bed. This fat-fendered Ford is barn fresh and hasn’t seen the road since the early 1990’s. This truck is a real blast from the past…a past where Star Wars ruled the big screen, Farrah Fawcett was on every boy’s wall and we all wanted to be Luke Skywalker or Evel Kineivel. Somebody street-rodded this F100 back in the late 1970’s and they hit most of the styling cues of the time. V8 scavenged from an uncle’s wrecked 78 T-Bird? Oh yeah. Cherry Bomb exhaust? Loud enough to pop an ear drum. Wide rear wheels? High jacked and check. Blue shag carpet? Wall to wall shag wagon baby. Red, white and blue paint? Same as Evel, you know it. CB radio? 10-4 good buddy. Tilt forward hood? Just like Barris would do it. Wood bed stakes? Urban Cowboy cool. If you know all of the above references you are either a member of the 70’s Preservation Society or like me, showing your age. This hauler from the time of Smokey and the Bandit will need some welding in the cab floor and corners, the driver’s rocker replaced and the front edge of the rear fenders patched. The pin holes in the roof skin and the front edge of the hood will need to be repaired. The exterior body is very straight with minor pitting and only shows minor dents and dings with no signs it was ever hit hard. The red, white and blue paint was fried and most of it washed off when we cleaned her up. The black paint was applied just to prevent flash rust. The frame is nice and solid with only surface rust. The glass is original 1953 stuff, which means it’s all delaminated junk that will have to be replaced. Termites ate the bed stakes and the original bed floor years ago. A heavy piece of welded steel lines the bed floor now. The engine is a running 351M400 from a 78 Thunderbird and is hooked to an FMX automatic. It runs off a jury-rigged gas can or a steady spray of starting fluid. The old stock gas tank is crap so that will need to be replaced before she can be driven. She blows a little black smoke but no signs of oil burning, though we have never run her to full operating temperature. The rear end is of unknown ratio and does not appear to be a limited slip. The brakes are toast, but this Ford rolls and steers fine. The tires will get her loaded on a trailer, but I wouldn’t put them on the street due to dry rot. The interior upholstery succumbed to time long ago. All that’s left of the CB is the base for the antennae. We have the glove box door, though it isn’t in the pictures. The bucket seats are from a 1964 Galaxy 500XL, and would work really well for a period rod. She is missing the battery, front turn signals, taillights, grill ornament, grill teeth, hood c-trim, passenger door window, horn ring, driver’s side exhaust tip and the wiper arms and some other bits we are probably forgetting. This F100 is a superb project for someone looking to restore a 70’s era street rod and relive some of their youth or you could go with a late model repower and suspension and bring this Ford into the new millennia. Either way this truck is ready and waiting for you to put it back on the street. This Ford F100 will be sold with an Alabama bill of sale as we are a no-title state for vehicles built prior to 1979. Please ask questions regarding condition or requests for additional pictures BEFORE you bid! This truck is being sold with NO RESERVE! This truck will be sold on a Bill of Sale as Alabama does not title any vehicle built prior to 1979. If you live in a title state, you may need the services of a title company at your own expense. This truck is sold as is where is, and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment is due within 3 business days. Buyer will have 30 days to remove the vehicle. We realize arranging shipping can be difficult and may take longer, communication is key. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
