Vehicle Detail

The vehicle that you are viewing is an original rare 1954 Triumph TR2 long door restoration project. The car has been in California for over 30 years of its life and is relatively rust free for a 60 year old car. It is a factory wire wheel car with the original hubs instead of bolt on adapters. The car was built in 1954 and sold/registered in 1955 which is the year on the title. It was originally red. The car has an early TR3 engine (# TS 15488 E) in it with the head, manifolds and carburetors designed for the engine. The engine turns over by hand. It does NOT come with the original engine block, head, manifolds or carbs. The TR2 engines do not have cam bearings. Additionally, the cams had a defective design that caused harmonic vibrations that resulted in the self destruction of most of the engines. It did not come from the factory with an overdrive unit and does not come with one now. The body is complete with what appears to be all of its original panels in usable condition. The body panel gaps are very nice for its age. This car has the original very rare four vent hood and fully functioning hood release system. These early cars did not use the Dzus fasteners on the hood/bonnet and the latching system parts are no longer available. Please note that the body has not been chopped or altered. Specifically, these very early cars did not have a vent hood on the cowling in front of the windshield nor does it have the pull knob on the dash cap. This is factory correct. The doors are in very nice condition with the lower lip in good condition and very usable as is the unique rockers. It comes with its early aluminium dash and cockpit capping pieces. It has a nice set of seat pans but not the seat springs. It has a full set of gauges, heater, headlight buckets, and an original cast grill in very usable condition. It does not come with bumpers and it does not run/drive but does roll. The loose parts are stored in plastic tubs that can be packed in the car for shipping. There is some relatively minor body rust in the dog legs, floor pans and battery box. The floor pans and battery box have been coated with fiberglass at some point so I am assuming that they should be replaced. The car comes with a brand new set of floor pans. The trunk and spare tire compartment floors both appear to be in very usable condition. I have included pictures of the rust areas. When I purchased the car the front fenders and nose had Bondo filling the seams. I had the front fenders and nose media blasted and some repairs for minor crack repairs done to the nose. The front fenders are bare metal and I have posted pictures of the issues that I found. This car is a very nice restoration project and I am only selling it because of failing health which has halted my efforts to restore the car. TERMS: If you are not sure about something, please ask!
