Vehicle Detail
Rare 1937 Chrysler Airflow presented for sale here. Less than 500 miles since rebuild and repaint, this car is a wonder to drive! Dubbed "the most innovative car of the 1930's" Chrysler produced the Airflow for only four model years. An engineering and safety marvel of its time, this was the first car to utilize streamline design for exceptional mileage and comfort. The three speed manual transmission (on the floor) also has an overdrive, described in Mopar ads as a "miracle" happening at 35 miles per hour! If you are familiar with driving automobiles of this vintage, you can actually feel the difference in these Chryslers! Mechanics also marvel at the advanced engineering for its time. As great as the engineering was, the Airflow was not a design hit with the general public. Therefore, although these cars were the apple of the eye of Walter P. Chrysler, only 4600 of these cars, in both coupes and sedans, were produced in 1937. The rebuilt engine runs well. The transmission is fine. I have been advised that the generator is not properly installed, and the gas pedal linkage needs to be replaced (not uncommon for the time), but the parts for that are included with the car. I honestly never thought I'd sell this car. But I have "mad car disease" and too many cars and projects already! Located in Denver, the car is sold "as is" and buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. With little work, you will have an automotive legend in your garage! Car is in Denver, Colorado.
