2.0 Diesel engine with 5 Speed, awesome. I have owned this car for about 4 years. I use is on occasion and love it. I consistently get 37 MPG in the city even with the cold ac on, engine has never overheated. I have replace almost every part in this car with exception of clutch, transmission, engine, and high pressure fuel distribution pump. New or rebuilt parts: Peach paint job about a year ago, New Gel battery, both axles and seals, water pump, timing belts (2), alternator, Rack & Pinion, power steering pump, air conditioner compressor, o-rings and receiver dryer, tie rod ends, ball joints, upgraded seats to 1987 model and had them covered, back seat is original and looks great, not an exact match to front but close, New brakes, rotors , drums and pads, rear brake hardware, seals and bearings (packed well with bearing grease). Front struts and rear strut/shocks. Front engine motor mount was replaced. Sony CD player and 2 new speakers. Many extra parts new and used that I have accumulated go with the vehicle. New plastic dash cap, glued on, looks great and new OEM front seat belts. I have found that most parts for this car come up on eBay fairly often and are relatively inexpensive. Tire still have lots of tread (Dunlop’s). Has an in-line additional in-line electric fuel pump that helps when the weather is cold. Disclosures: Work needed to finish this off. It leaks a little diesel fuel and a little oil (does not affect the running of the engine that I can tell ( stains pictured on concrete in front view on driveway) I have seals for the crank shaft (passenger side) where I suspect the oil is leaking. I have not had time to troubleshoot this but it would be better if this was fixed. Also the head liner seams will need to be re-sown, the liner is good it will need to be removed and re sewn by an upholstery shop. Left door switch needs to be replaced, easy cheap job) so dome light does not come on when door is opened and key buzzer does not work. This is a great car, I simply don’t have the time to tinker with it any more. It is fairly easy to work on, tight in a few places but was fun to learn about the diesel engine. A few hundred more dollars and a little labor and this car would be as close to perfect as a 1984 Lynx can get. I replaced the lug nuts with aftermarket nuts and they have surface rust. Keep in mind if you have never owned a diesel this car takes some getting used to and is not like a gas burner, it is noisier and needs to warm up. Other than that that I don’t think it will ever wear out. Not sure on emission test, Alabama does not require this test so check laws in your state before bidding. Clear title and ready to drive home to lucky/ highest bidder. I know the original owner of this car, it was purchases in Huntsville Al at the local Mercury dealer in 1984 and is a 3 owner car.I will not be listing this car again if it does not sell this listing I will finish myself and keep.
