Vehicle Detail
70_280SL_BFC 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Roadster/Hardtop with Soft Top 113.044-12-018428 Blue Metallic (Paint Code DB-396) / Blue leather / Dark Blue Hartz Cloth Soft Top Well Maintained and Cared For Automatic Transmission And Air Conditioning Factory U.S. Delivery Automobile This 280SL was sold new in 1970 and serviced until 1979 by the renowned Mecedes-Benz dealer in Bethesda, MD, McNey Motors, after which it was serviced by McNey's succsessor of equal renown, Euro MotorCars. We aquired the automobile from Euro MotorCars as a trade-in from the first owner on a new Mercedes-Benz in 2001. After selling it to one of our best customers, we have just traded it back from that same careful owner of 12 years. Hence, under best information and belief, we are confident in representing this 280SL as a two owner automobile. The last owner used it as the occasional Sunday driver and kept it garaged. It has one of the straightest bodies that we've seen on the highly desirable 113 model. Everything is original except the soft top and paint, both of which were done in the last two years. Also replaced were the plastic heater controls. The wood is in excellent condition as well as the carpets. The original leather interior is soft and supple. Mechanically perfect, the car runs and drives beautifully with a strong engine with quiet valvetrain and perfect transmission. Everything works and the factory FrigiKing Air Conditioning is ice cold. The soft top was replaced recently and was put up for the first time since since installation for photos and comes with one chrome top wrench. Of the original 4992 exported to the US in 1970, this one of just a fraction of the cars that have survived. The 190SL has now surpassed the $100K mark and we believe the "Pagoda" 230-280 SL series is the next in line for a similar upward price appreciation. Two Owner One owner for the last 12 years Always garaged Mechanically superb Throughout Strong Engine & Transmission All body panels are straight with correct gaps Fresh paint in the original color Fresh Soft Top Driven just over 3000 miles per year (149K) We are located in Herndon, Virginia, five miles from Dulles International Airport (IAD) and have been at the same location for 40 years.
