Vehicle Detail
I don't know a ton about this car (see what I did there with TON on a car that weighs....?) but I DO know a few things on this trade-in!! She's a biggun, that's for sure!! Did I just offer you your new quad or bike hauler?!? Somebody had this stashed away for a long time. Amazingly it fires right up with the bump of the ignition. The body has some patchy lower repaint areas but surprisingly minimal rust and bodywork. Doesn't look to have been in any accidents and the underside (see pics) looks nice and solid. Definitely parked inside as opposed to sitting in a backyard! Shockingly all the chrome and trim looks nice. Solid minor biffed bumpers that will need minimal cleaning. Clearly the car is still dusty and dirty...just he way I picked it up! No detail purdy up here! Below, the old school BFs have plenty of tread to hold you over while you get her road ready. Custom steelies come with rattlecan black finish. Personally I'd turn this ride into a faux Pro Touring car with a lowered stance and some great wheels. The fenderwells can handle the bulk!! Minimal visible rust below. Paint is nice and dry along with the factory vinyl top altho it seems to be intact and complete. All the glass is good. Windows roll up and down. Those drips are dirt not rust. LQQK AT THOSE FLOORBOARDS AND FRAME!! Barely even surface rust!! Tank looks solid. Holds fuel with no smells or leaks. The Ford 9" rear has to be worth a good chunk! Trailer hitch looks good. Bumper is solid. Note ALL the lighting works. Below: hard to see but there is a large dent on the rear lower corner. Could be mostly popped out if desired. Trim piece for the right rear is inside the car. Super solid body panels. Minimal repairs. Again....look at how clean the underside is!! Mandatory glasspack included. No charge ;-) The interior is super straight. Smells just like the car you grew up in!! My grandparents owned a Torino so this car is a flashback for me! From what I can tell ALL the items work. EVEN THE CRUISE WORKS!! Lights. Fan. Wipers. AIR CONDITIONING pump actuates but it will need a recharge/recon. Turn signals. Gauges. Not sure about the Audiovox time period radio tho. No cracks in the semi-dry dash. One tear in the seat seam up top driver's corner. No major damages otherwise. Carpet even looks great! Superb headliner too! Vacuum. ArmorAll. Update the sounds. Even has room for a subwoofer behind the seat in the storage hole if desired! Not far away from cruise night material as it sits! Odometer is displaying 14,xxx....clearly that's 114,xxx. Steering column looks to have been replaced at some point. The bed is ridiculously solid. Not all banged up. Rear tailgate end corners of the bed sports some minor rust. Obviously the tailgate functions properly. Underneath the doors has some typical rust scaling but no holes. Note the corners of the main body are solid. Note the missing passenger fender badging is on the front seat. Also the passenger seam split up top like the driver's side. Below is the driver's lower door. What I DO LOVE about the doors is that they don't have the framing around the windows, giving a more open feel. I tried to show the underside of the front to show no major engine leaks or rusty suspension. Underside of the hood looks great. The engine compatment looks great aside the spraycan touchups. Brand new battery! The 4bbl carb was ditched in favor of a 2bbl Holley. So the air cleaner has been smashed from the adaptor plate rasing the carb up. I like the 2bbl especially with these high gas prices. That said, the car is in NEED of carb tuning and adjustments. Seems to have newer plug wires but not sure of the plugs, etc. Altho the car runs and drives, while I was taking pics, the radiator sprung a leak. What's nice is this radiator can get a recore or reseal. I'd say drive it anywhere but that's your call with a leaky (upper corner) radiator. I personally drove the car down the street. It drives very straight. ALL the gears shift as it should in the trans. Engine is smooth but not tuned properly. Doesn't seem to be overheating at least going down the street. The power steering works but the hub seal is leaking as well. It will hold fluid for awhile but will leak out. Cruise works. AC Pump works. Brakes feel solid. No suspension noises, popping or rattling. No drivetrain noises or flutter at 50mph. It really is merely a weekend's worth of tuning and cleaning away from solid cruising material. Or....???
