Vehicle Detail
This 2005 electric start Honda dirt bike is great for the trails with tractor like torque, new tires, chain, sprocket and tuning. If you've never had an electric start dirt bike, you need to have one to understand the joy of recovering from a stall without picking your foot up off the mountain side - the coolest thing ever. Plus if you flood it after a spill you won't go into cardiac arrest working to clear and restart. I bought this for my son in 2009, he rode it a couple times then it sat in the shed for 2 years. I dusted it off and rode about every month or two with a bunch of other old geezers in Texas for about 3 years. Now that I am in Florida, I've ridden it twice in 2 years and just can't stand to see it sit any longer. If I had friends to ride with I'd keep it. I love this bike and have upgraded the front suspension with BBR spring and special relief valves (RaceTech I think) that improve the fork rebound and compression incredibly (for a 190lb guy). I put on new Maxxis tires about 3 years ago and they grip on corners 10 times better than the old Honda supplied junk. I removed the intake and exhaust baffles (required for import into California for emissions), rejetted the carb for the greater airflow and the power increase was amazing. About 4 years ago I put on new chain and counter sprocket, bringing it down one tooth, and I swear you can just about climb a vertical wall now. Battery is maybe 3 or 4 years old, and holds a charge well enough to start the bike right up after it has sat for 6 months - so its fine. I upgraded to a new FOX handlebar that is red and pretty and added brush guards to the handlebars. I made a custom mounted case on the front to hold tools, drinks and cell phone. In the last 2 years I've put on maybe 15 hours. Before that I put on maybe 50 hours a year for 3 years. Before that probably 20 hours total over 2 years. before that the prior owner said his grandson hurt himself on it and it had been in the shed for 'awhile'. I can't imagine it has more than a few hundred hours on it. It has had its scrapes and nicks from use in woods and brush, but it starts right up, and will likely be running like a Honda a decade or more from now. It's not shiny aluminum so I think it sat covered in dirt before I bought it, but its been well taken care of since. All the original parts (jets, front number plate, spring, intake and exhaust baffles), and they will go with the bike. Mid-May I will be headed up into western Florida / southern Georgia, on my way to Mississippi and so could bring it nearby to a 'paid in advance' purchaser if desired.
